    I've seen a thread where the guy did separate them, but if your doing the triangles then yes you do have to separate. If I were you I would separate seeing as your going to have the grills painted side against the table. If you separate the painted side won't be in harm of scratches.

    This was a color matched OEM Grill that I modified...

    No need to separate it because it was already painted. :cool:

    so if your using an oem grill off your same truck you dont have to seperate them?

    Separating the two makes it a lot easier to drill holes for the zip ties and string them through... Not totally necessary though.

    I separated the two when I did my first satoshi. When you are building a satoshi using the fiberglass or bondo method it makes it easier because you don't have to stress about screwing up your factory paint during the process.;)

    For the one above - since it was a used grill - I just masked out the painted part and did the cutting & painting...

    Since I do not use fiberglass or bondo on the satoshi mod anymore I would probably not separate the two pieces.

    It's up to personal preference though...
