Just a hard top old school truck never caught on should have had more horsepower than it did.

Horsepower isn't everything. Those things are pretty quick in stock form.

Chevy made a mistake by launching the SSR without a powerful engine. They changed the engine after 1 model year but the damage was done. The later SSR's have 400 hp and were available with a 6-speed.

Pontiac made a similar mistake in my opinion with the GTO. The 2004 models had the old LS1, the 05 and 06 models came with the 6.0L with 400 hp.

They knew the general public was disappointed with the products that they were making, the police were switching to Ford and Chrysler, so they thought they should try to develop a product that may appeal to Disney and the Cartoon Network.

I actually drove one of these through a track at qualcomm stadium when they first came out. The thing was pretty cool but that could not be my daily driver. Especially since Toyota makes a sexy truck by the name Tacoma.

Well the 2004 model had a 350 hp 5.3L V8 but the vehicle weighed about 4700 lbs. In 2005, the hp was increased to 400. I would like to have one just to putt around in!

It's been reincarnated as the HHR. Whatever that stands for. Hip Hot Rod?

I read somewhere that the HHR was designed by the same guy that designed the PT Cruiser.
