Looks awesome, I think I'd be happy with a trail boss with the full tune so thats good news it's coming that way in 24. Are we sure that was a 2024? Is there any visual differences over the 23? I didn't think they were out yet.

Confirmed that's the 2024 configuration, which is live on Chevy and you can double check yourself (toggles between 23/24).

Changes that I'm aware of between 23 and 24:
    1. High output option now standard where the mid-level output engine was standard in 23.
    2. Larger screen now standard on all trims.
    3. Cab roof reinforced to prevent rippling inside automatic washes.
    4. Rear seat belt indicator standard across all trims.
    5. No more Desert Boss option, replaced with AEV Bison.
    5. Various options previously only available on the higher trims become available on lower trims.

Since I'm eyeing a ZR2, essentially nothing changes except the roof reinforcement. For Trail Boss shoppers, it was definitely good to wait a year.

Meh, just another trust fund rig I have to compete with for parking at the ski hill

I swear they step off the airplane, go straight to the dealership to pick up their pre-ordered vehicle, swing by REI for a $500 down puffy, Patagonia trucker hat and "MOUNTAINS PLEASE" bumper sticker and then go sit in traffic on 405 with the ditch lights on

    back to bone stock.
I had a 1996 ZR2. first new truck I bought. I was giddy and pretty proud of myself. that truck didnt make it 100,000 miles. okay..it went just over 100,000.

I am not joking. it had the motor replaced at 45,000..and the tranny seal between the tranny and transfer case chit-the-bed and it took $3400 of my money to replace the transmission when it smoked itself.

I got it home, detailed it myself...and sold it for a song. I was over it. but admittedly, that truck handled washboard dirt roads awesome.

the new one looks awesome. I have seen plenty myself. hell, I even think the Ford equivalent looks awesome. but I am gun-shy. I still have my old tacoma with 220,000 miles..and I can't get rid of it despite buying a new 2023 TRDOR.

No, I am not sure. It looked brand new but who knows. Now that GM has the looks down, they need to work on reliability.

Way better looking than the 4G tacoma's, but wouldn't get a chevy truck either.

If I wanted one and was worried about reliability, I would just get an extended warranty with it. A 10 year/ 100k mile warranty could probably be had for under $2k. They are usually transferrable so you could sell it with 95k on it to someone and they would at least be covered initially.

loved my Colorado ( Z71 2.8l turbo diesel) but damn it was one problem after another, and if its emission related you better get it fixed before limp mode limits you to max 5mph :frusty:.
eventually the transmission refused to shift and I got rid of that sumbitch.

I dont know if ill trust another GM truck:rain:

Looking at paper, I would take that and the Ranger Raptor over the upcoming Tacoma TRD PRO

I wish Toyota put their effort into a front locker instead of these gimmicky seat shocks

Front locker is an easy add, the sway bar disconnect is a more valuable thing to have from the factory.

I think the ZR2 looks sharp, as does the Ranger Raptor. Whereas the previous generations of both trucks were downright hideous to me.

For me, the Tacoma is still the best looking truck and the one I’d trust the most. They finally have some serious competition, but hopefully the higher cost is buying a truck that has had the extra R&D to make it bullet proof.

The best thing that happened as far as I'm concerned is that it looks like there are some really nice options to choose from. The Ford, Chevy, and Toyota are all compelling in their own way. If I were considering a new truck I would drive and shop them all.

I've never been very brand loyal, although I admit to leaning Toyota in recent years. It's been my experience they all generally make pretty solid product and can all put out some turds. Message boards amplify the negatives and people tend to form opinions based on the skewed signal to noise ratio. For everyone with a problem there are many more out there enjoying their truck with no issues.

Resale value is a valid concern and Toyota shines in that department. But if you get a discount on a Ford or Chevy when you buy it you've offset that factor up front. As far as reliability goes, if I planned on keeping it for 100k miles there are extended warranties you can buy pretty reasonably if you shop around. Most are one-time transferrable, so if you sell it with some of it left it should help you with your exit price. Plus, you can wait to decide to do that right up until the factory warranty expires.

A bad past experience with a particular brand can understandably turn you off forever from future purchases. But the reality is the trucks you buy today are not those trucks.

The issue there is yea it has warranty but when its down every 3 months for some major issue over the course of 6 years it's gets pretty old. Was my 17 zr2 more capable the my tacoma? 100 percent that thing on 35s with gears was unstoppable except in snow. but it was broken over and over and over. I have 0 faith in gm anymore.

Where everyone is going wrong in my opinion with their new trucks is all the stupid drive modes. My old zr2 you turn on the rear locker in 2wd put it in offroad mode turn off traction and stabilitrac and it stayed that way. No matter how fast or hard you drove it. I don't need sand/rock/slippery/whatever else modes. I just needed all the nannies to stay off which they did.

It was worth fuck all when I traded it in with 135k km on it. The dealer I bought it from and did all the work on it had 0 interest in buying it from me. Toyota gave me 26k trade in and sent it to auction, it made it south of the border to wala wala valley honda in Washington. It's been sitting on their lot for almost 3 months and they want way to much money for it lol.

Of course they look good on paper but in the real world my taco is a much better truck, I think they look like half tonnes when I see them. The weight of new 1/4 tonnes is out of hand

Wasn't the big three just on strike? I don't want disgruntled workers building my vehicle. I believe that's a direct correlation to their reliability issues. Not taking sides but having relatives in the industry, I know they're paying and benefits are excellent.

Yeah, I hear you man and I don't blame you one bit. The truth is that even after all that bullshit I spewed out I would probably end up with the Toyota myself. :D

I'm sure these long posts of mine are getting old. Doc has me on steroids and they wire me out like a meth head. Wife is ready to kill me lol.

Always found modern Vettes cheesy. If it isn’t a 60s Stingray all done up with a Pro Touring chassis why bother? This will get you more middle-aged men coming up to you at gas stations than a C8 would…
