    Sayin hello from SoCal. Lookin to buy my first Tacoma. Been a Ford addict for the last 20yrs. Looking at mid 2000's Tacomas. 4cyl-Xtra cab-manual trans-4X4-or 2X4. I've heard 1st generation and 2nd. What the dates for 1st gen? What's the major changes between the two? Is one better than the other? Any info would be appreciated.

    Welcome to TW. first gen. was 1995.5 thru 2004. Great trucks, but they have a problem with frame rust. If you look at one be sure to check out the frame very carefully. Second gen. 2005 til present. Trucks are bigger now, mid size.
