yup. unless you don't care about tranny temp. which if you have a manual tranny your good to go.

Download instruction manual from manufacturer, if you don't have it. Follow setup instructions, especially to correct odometer (use mile markers or gps, more accurate than instructions for correcting speedometer) and also calibrate your gas consumption.
Been very pleased with mine - had it 4 years.

    incorrect, bt whateva

scangauge (if this version has x-gauge) is highly programmable
you can get more info with it, and changeable color display
you can program in tranny temps for one thing

however, the ultragauge can't but has a nicer one-color display

so, one is not better than the other. they are simply different, and when it
comes to data, scangauge wins because it can display more

Ultra Gauge also has stupid form factor and sticks out like a sore thumb. ScanGauge with BlendMount is awesome.

My truck only has 30,000 miles on it, so I'm not too worried about trans temp. When I can feel heat coming through the floorboards, that's when I'll start to worry haha.

I suppose. I bought the Ultragauge because it's half the price of the scan gauge. But if you really want trans temp then more power to you. Everyone's needs are a little different, I respect that :D

Trans temp at the convertor and at the pan. That's why I bought a SG (towing with auto). I also have water temp and battery just because there are two others on the display.

Hmm, so you say there are two temp readings for the trans? I know about one which I have displayed on my SG, but not the other. How much difference do you see between them? Is it worth displaying both?

I also display voltage to keep an eye on alternator output, but don't bother with water temperature as there's a big fat gauge in the dash for that.

U trust ur big fat temp gauge?

U know it won't move from 160 to 205 and them some right?

I monitor the trans at the pan..... The converter temp varies too much.

Yes, I found the codes here somewhere. The convertor temps rise fast when the trans is "hunting". When towing, I keep an eye on the convertor so I know to just drop it down into 4th. The fluid breaks down with temp. It doesn't care WHERE the temp is high...
