I watched them for several months, before opting for an Ultra-gauge when they went on sale a few weeks ago. IIRC, SacnGauges are about the same ($160) everywhere, but Amazon and Buy.com offer free S&H.

Amazon sometimes has it a little cheaper than reg price. Plus I think that it is an item that has free shipping.

I apologize for the late come-back, but I decided to go with the Ultra-gauge because of its "bang for the buck". (See http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...i-vs-watchdog-vs-ultra-gauge.html#post2992989.)

The EM wasn't available when I ordered mine, so I went with the classic. I don't really care about metric units, but I'm intrigued by the "new expanded gauges and features" the EM is advertised to have. (Thankfully, it looks like classics can be upgraded for $10.) My classic located 33 gauges on my truck. I look forward to hearing what your EMs provide, so I can decide if the upgrade is a worthwhile path.

Note that Ultra-Gauges are advertised as "not compatible" with our trucks. Strictly speaking, there is an issue between the gauge and our trucks' ABS (assuming yours is so-equipped). There's a quick/easy work-around that many folks have used (see http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/te...agauge-1st-gen-abs-issue-fix.html#post2165732), but I've also found that simply starting my truck a certain way prevents the problem from occuring. (See http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...i-vs-watchdog-vs-ultra-gauge.html#post3612471.)

All it really is a monitor for your ECM. I have a ultra Em i use it for mainly GPH and MPG.

if you use it right you can get more MPG.. :)

It reads, computes, and displays a host of information from vehicles' OBDII computer ports. Check out http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ for more information.

I had a Scangauge in my old 4x4 diesel van and really liked it. It had soooo many cool readouts. More than I knew what to do with. My van didn't have an RPM gauge so I used it for RPM, MPG, Transmission Temp and would toggle between other things for the 4th setting such as ambient air temp, coolant temp or whatever.

I've really been thinking about getting another one for my Taco. I've never heard of an Ultra gauge but the $70 price tag does sound tempting. However, it looks a little more bulky compared to the scangauge.

Can somebody post a pic of theirs in a Taco?

Em does both metric and english units together where the classic does just english units.

Either one will work. In addition to metric units, the EM offers "new expanded gauges and features". Unfortunately, the manufacturer/vendor Web site is a little thin on specifics...
