I just bought a 2013 Double Cab 4x4 TRD Sport. I wanted to buy a Scangage or something similar to track MPG since I drive 80-90 miles a day. Scangage has a Scangage II and ScangageE, but I think the ScangageE is what I want. Does this track MPG even if my truck does not have a display built in for MPG. I assumed it did until I read something that made me doubt it. I know there is something call an ultragauge too, but I don't know much about it. Is there anything I should consider besides the Scangage?

    Thanks

Seat covers, weather tech digi fit, bug deflector, plasti dip wheels, magnaflow muffler, and many more to come!.. as soon as i get money. Ill probably go broke typing this...
scan gauge's are great and really help correct bad driving habits when it comes to mpg. Any of the scan gauges you stated would do fine. But if the wallet is tight the Ultragauge may be the way to go.

I have the Ultragauge and I am very happy with it. Scangauge is just too expensive compared to it.

I had both the Scan Gauge and Ultra gauge at one point or another. I preferred the Ultra Gauge solely due to price and aesthetics. Ultimately sold both of them. Manual MPG calculation (or through a has tracking website) is going to be more accurate than any gauge though. My vote would be for the Ultra Gauge just for the reasons I stated above.

Thanks. I'll look into the Ultra Gauge.

If you're not in too much of a hurry, you could wait around for a group buy to pop up on here. Might help you save the shipping or a bit more.

well my truck messed up long story but tacoma tried blaming it on my bullydog watchdog saying it was sending signals to the computer " everytime you start the truck its like scratching a disc to the computer" and tried voiding out my warranty

scan gauges aren't a programmer, its a monitor, like the dealers scan tool.

That post itself is so ironic.

OP- don't worry about anything like a scan gauge voiding your warranty. Take it from a former dealership "dummy".

I have a scan-gauge 2 and I use it all the time, it helps me to find the speed that help gets me the most MPG.

There are pics in my build thread, you will have to search for it because I am at my phone.

Its hard to say without knowing your exact situation.

With that being said, I have never heard of a "bullydog" or whatever.

I also highly doubt the fact that the dealership just said "yeah it blew up your motor". There had to have been some other parts of the story that are left out.

Just so you know, a lot of dealership service advisors still make money based on how much warranty work is done, so they would be more than willing to do it for you assuming you are still within your warranty period. Unless, however the "bullydog" really did cause damage to your motor.

Will the UltraGuage clear codes too?... I do know it can read them.
