Just wondering if anyone has a Scangauge or knows the normal operating temp for this years new transmission? Also is it worth buying one for monitoring mpg? I have a base SR with no LED display, just a simple LCD with no fuel monitoring features.

    Thanks!

Transmission operating temps should not change, regardless of the trans. The fluid is the limiting factor, not the number of gears or control mechanism.

I have one in both my vehicles. While nice for MPG, it's even better for voltage, coolant temp, verifying MPG and RPM calibrations, etc. Not to mention if you ever have a CEL pop up you're already wired to read and clear it.

In todays world of gizmo nonsense, an OBDII monitor is one of the better accessories one can add.

Not to mention you can reinstall it on any 1996+ vehicle, should you trade. So it's a transferable mod.

I had a Scangauge. It's definitely a great tool to have. That being said I just sold mine not too long ago. I found myself forgetting it was there and stopped looking at it unless I took highway trips. I bought it to monitor fuel economy, but now I've just reverted to hand calculation. If I towed a lot I would have found more use for it. Eventually I'm just going to buy an Ultragauge at some point down the line. The plus side of the Scangauge though is you can disconnect it to put it away out of sight and can change the backlight colors to match the dash.

I should have added that while I 'use' it to monitor fuel, I don't record those numbers. I still enter a log and do it by hand. As it's more accurate.

I like it more for the other benefits it brings.
