    That's good to know.

My truck doesn't have TPMS so that really doesn't matter to me but I'm sure most 2nd gen Tacomas do have it. It would definitely be cool to see all tire pressures on a display in the driver's seat.

Yeah would be neat. Not a deal breaker though. I swapped out wheels so mine are in a pressurized pvc pipe in my truck box anyway.:)

I could swear I've read that the Tacoma ECU doesn't read actual pressures, just a variation between sensors, or something like that. Has my whole life been a lie??

This was before I got all my sensors in the wheels. 2 tires and the spare showing pressures.

So the SG can read the TPMS signal and display it? 2nd gen? looks like it from the picture above. I don't think the UG can do that.

Yep. That’s the reason I bought a 2nd Scangauge. It must have a fairly recent firmware version though.

What are the differences on average MPG and trip fuel efficiency? I want to say that I read that one of the gauges has a weird way of displaying that. For the record I have neither UG or SG but am looking at both.

I have the scangauge and haven’t noticed anything weird about how MPG is displayed. It has a current MPG and an average MPG. You can reset the average at anytime. I think it may also have a trip MPG but I haven’t used that feature in awhile.

Excellent. I like the display of the UG, but I like the low profile of the SG. The UG seems to be about $45 - $50 cheaper right now. Studying some of the threads out there (and there are many as you guys know) seems like outside of the TPMS sensor display that SG offers, it comes down to preference between the two.

@trdtacojef I agree. Probably just a matter of preference. I have no complaints about my scangauge. I mostly wanted to monitor my transmission fluid temperature while towing. Back when I bought mine sg was the only one that did that.

UltraGuage Blue. I use a small tablet as my GPS, so the screen is already in the truck.

Had I known I would have done the same thing as llamasmurf.

I was just trying to figure that out. Would your iPhone play nicely with bluetooth AND carplay to my head unit? Or would it better to simply snag a cheap android device and use that?

My vote was other. I was debating between these gauges as well, but ended up getting a Kenwood head unit with a iDataLink Maestro. With the Maestro the head unit displays TPMS and you can select 2 pages of 5 gauges on each like trans temp, MPG, coolant temp, intake temp and a bunch of others.

I have 0 knowledge of anything apple. :anonymous:

I use my CAT S60 bad ass android phone with the Torque Pro app for my display goodness. :cookiemonster:

My phone does my music via bluetooth at the same time as showing me my temps, just FYI. Bluetooth on android devices works very well with the truck.

I like my ScanGauge II and I've been using it for 13 years now. The main thing I like about it is its size and shape. I could fit that thing a lot of places without getting in the way. I can't speak for the Ultra Gauge, but it looks taller. I have my ScanGauge II currently mounted on the steering column just like wiljayhi: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/scangauge-or-ultragauge-or.643286/#post-22267174
It's short enough not to get in the way of my dash gauges. I've got mine displaying mileage info and my auto trans temps (at the torque conv. and the pan).

The Ultra Gauge looks cool though. Good luck with your decision OP

Understood. Yeah, I'm in the Apple ecosystem already so it would be tough to jump to another. Although a cheap android phone I could pickup and just use for the display. Like most things to do with my truck I'm probably overthinking it!

I know with Apple a person needs to buy iCloud space and with android I don't. Also with Apple a video can't be texted or emailed unless it's put on a website first and with android it can straight from the phone. I also know that I've barely scratched the surface of what my android can do that my Apple couldn't but to the Apple's credit it was 7 years older.

Thank you for your post about your android. What device is in your truck that the Torque Pro app reads? What does the app show? I don't know anything about that app.

My Pedal Commander is bluetooth also, how many bluetooth devices can be used in a vehicle at once?

    Thank you!

I am unsure if there is a limit of devices that connect to the phones bluetooth, I use 3 different ones at the same time and my phone does it with no problems.

1st of them is this device that plugs into your OBDII port I leave it in my truck all the time I have never removed it since I got it. It allows you to use the Torque Pro app. It read codes from the truck as well as the real time information for the temps of the transmission. This is how I have it setup here...

2nd one is the truck audio to listen to music

3rd one I have is a bluetooth temp sensor for when we go camping for my insulin in my ARB fridge. I can always check the temp of it, and have alerts if it goes outside of the range I set. LOVE IT. Allows me to relax, knowing my insulin is the correct temp.
