I went with scangauge and love it. After entering some x gauge codes specific to the Toyota, I get both transmission temps, and individual tire pressures. Not sure if the other gauges can do that.

I was going to buy a scan gauge for the transmission temp. purpose only. After a little research and a $23 dollar investment. I have transmission temp. on my iPad now.

@spitdog ^^^care to elaborate? Was just typing up a question about which is better for monitoring A/T temps (Ultragauge MX, EM, or Scangauge).

I just bought a Elm327 adapter of eBay, I bought one from a seller that had good reviews and sold like 600 of them or so. Sorry I don’t have a link. I think there all the same anyway. I also purchase the Fusion App for $10 that works with iOS. I found on this site the pid code that you need to enter into you app and create a transmission guage that shows you the temp. It works great, and I intend to confirm the temp. with the onboard sensor when I jump the obd module in the future ( haven’t done that yet).

There is a little learning curve with the app and how to program it and create guages, but after a short time you will find it’s easy to do.

Just google Tacoma fusion app transmission temp. and I think you will find that pid code you need.

Ultragauge can do the ATF temps, but not the psi. That would be neat to have but it's not a deal breaker as there is an idiot light for low air pressure, plus I have a spare if the tire goes flat. The audible alarms were the selling point for me. You can set low and high alarms for each gauge. I want to mostly monitor voltage, coolant temp, ATF temp, and fuel trims. I ordered the MX version.

If u want the tire psi bad enough, contact ultragauge.
If there is a big enough demand, they may work with you, and have the xgauge codes from scangauge handy for them.
Thats the only reason the transmission temp came to be on the mx, and the only reason they updated from 1.2 to 1.3 version.

Audible alarms would be great. Can you program specific temperatures at which the alarm sounds?

That's slick @FastEddy59!! Any idea if the Idata Link Maestro will work on my 2014 non-JBL touchscreen?

I really don't know bc my original head unit was giving me problems so just while swappin' out to this Pioneer, I learned of idata link. Check their website, I know there was some OEM setups listed there.

The website appears to imply so. I will not know until I install the unit. Should arrive some time this week.

"UltraGauge features fully configurable alarms for every gauge. Both low and high alarms may be set and the trigger value of each alarm is completely configurable.

UltraGauge continually compares real-time gauge values against configured alarm values. If the alarm thresholds have been exceeded, an audio and visual alarm will occur. The alarm window will display the set value and the current value. While the alarm is occurring, the particular alarm may be easily suspended and will no longer trigger for the remainder of the current driving cycle.

The alarm siren may also be disabled to provide only visual alarms. Alarms may also be globally disabled so that both visual and audible alarms are disabled.

An alarm may also be assigned to trouble codes or pending codes. Should a trouble code or pending code become posted while driving, an alarm immediately occurs. This can aid in the diagnosis of intermittent problems."

Thanks for the info. I don't feel I have a big need for psi display, but it would be a nice option to have.

If its not that important to ya, dont bother. Their communication is slow and via email.
I mean, they put forth alot of effort on the trans temp, but no option for text, phone call, instant messaging, or anything other than email.
A reply could take 2 minutes, or 24hrs lol. But they did crack the code.

I went with the ultragauge cause it was cheaper, and have no regrets. Never had a moment I wish I'd spent more on the scangauge.

I use it primarily to monitor trans temps while towing, but it's nice to see real time mpg and digital coolant temps too since I can.
