Girlfriend is wanting to do the cooking tonight. She's kinda new to it. Must supervise if I don't want the house to burn.

I got lost in the tacomabeast thread that was locked, I missed that fiasco. Probably because I don’t follow people like this on Instagram and typically ignore any requests from Tacoma based accounts. When I saw the pics of the three posing for a shot in the road, I immediatly thought of these guys
    4991AEAB-3D2D-4856-870A-4699CD39FD4F.jpg

Like others have said- I cannot wait until the Tacoma/overland trend fucking dies, so we don’t have to see D-cans like this polluting our community with shit content. I’d rather they stayed in the JDM street racer or massive Ford F-150 communities. On top of that I cannot even understand how Tacoma beast even made money. Every time there was a thread about their products I thought to myself “who buys this bullshit...it’s corny junk.” ...yet it sold. Which is another indicator of where we’re at.

I sub to the ones that actually make an effort to create content, I completely avoid the ones that are essentially shitposting to victory.

Can't say I've ever seen his stuff but I've heard a lot about him. Maybe I'll have to go check it out.

    The ones I like are:
X Overland - but more for the cinematic / storytelling aspect
Lifestyle Overland - since they just wrapped up the Tuk trip I am taking in June
SwellRunner - Kinda relatable guy, but really good production value. He's shown up at a few Utah meetups
4xOverland - Andrew really covers the Africa scene well
Ronnie Dahl - lots of good educational content

Here is what Maxx Powell says about the tcmbst deal.
I asked him about it on his vid he posted that tcmbst was in with him. He posted this vid before the whole rock ordeal.

I think what aggravates me is the constant showing off and shilling of “critical” overland equipment. In the end, all this equipment is a weak link. I get that a refrigerator is important, but it has so many failure points I’d rather find an alternative. Or the rollaway cook tops... failure points, failure points, failure points. It’s too many complex parts, plus the fuel requirement. At some point, it will just be useless. For me, overlanding should focus more on building the skills required to thrive outdoors without absurd amounts of fragile equipment, as well as the foundation vehicle.

I pass on all that tech for one reliable grill.

    This is all you need.

Unfortunately most places here have fire restrictions.... to propane stoves only and propane heaters... no open fires... fire pits only. I hate cooking with propane. I am used to fire pit or open fire cooking.

In CA? Maybe. I don’t remember camping anywhere that had fire restrictions.
