Serious question: what battery and brake pads does everyone recommend?

 

In a couple weeks, I'm gonna get a yellow top. And will soon be getting the Stage 2 EBC kit for TAP whenever I need brakes.. Stand by for link

 

Don't get a yellowtop. I already had to replace two under warranty twice and only bought it last April.

I can't justify spending that much money on a battery anyway.

I'm looking at AutoZone.com and there are a lot of the same batteries but different volts and amps. I'm slightly confused about all that.

 

But you have everything hooked straight up to it....

 

Not a bad price. My rotors are basically new, I'm going to get them turned for the first time when I put new pads on.

 

I've read a lot of good things about the green pads, plus I need new rotors.

 

I was almost stock on my first trip and there were other totally stock trucks and they all did fine just don't choose any crazy lines. Next trip I'll prob be by myself and just use my ENO instead of a tent. You could prob do it with little to no camping gear

I got a dual purpose group 27 when I got my winch. I had to do a little wire extending to make it fit though

 

This is a good point. As long as you have a place to sleep you should be good for a trip like this. An Eno can be had for $60 and is a great thing to keep in the truck anyhow. The rest can be bummed from others who are going. Throw food and drinks in someone's cooler, cook when someone has a stove out, ect. An Eno and a $10 camp chair and your golden. Hell I have an extra summer weight sleeping bag in my truck 90% of the time.

Make sure to get atlas straps too. I cannot stress that enough. There expensive but worth every penny when they hold your ass up and you can literally hang your hammock anywhere and break down as fast if not faster than an RTT

 

Agreed. I bought some last year after several without them and they made a big difference. No more walking around searching for the right trees.

 

Screw that grab some 7/64 amsteel (limit ~1500lbs) for a fraction of the price and make some whoopies slings. Also pick up some tree straps, you can get a hammock for $30 here as well. I may do this as another hobby..
