Is there a way to add an inch more to my rear without buying a whOle leaf pack or block? Got an aal already but it needs more lift for the extra weight I'm putting back there.

I got the dealership to install a cv axle for me during my frame replacement, the old one had a torn boot. I picked up a re-man'd from O'Reilly and brought it to them. I've heard a faint moaning/grinding noise a few times over the past couple weeks when I'm reversing in full lock. Not sure if this is related, but shouldn't there be a seal here? (See pic). This is the outer part of the axle where it sits in the hub.20150614_104801.jpg

The sheet metal flange sticking out if the hub is the seal.

Ok. I was thinking that there should be another piece that slides on the axle prior to install and fits into that flange once the axle is installed.

Rebuilding the car port today. The insurance company came onto our gated fucking property while we weren't home while we were adding on bedrooms and they took pics and said our home wassnt livable or whatever and we have 30 days to fix it or they'll drop us. Well no shit it's not livable we were adding bedrooms on! They took pics 2 months ago and we got a notice the other day so today I'm fixing the issue they pointed out with the car port

I lied, there is a flange on the axle side too (factory axle).

We found that its cheaper just to buy the cheapest parts store axle you can find and steal the seals off of it. Break it down, snag the boots and throw them in the parts bin for latter. Take the outer off of the CV and throw that in the truck with the truck with the nut. If you break a CV you can leave the inner (cup) portion in the fron diff and pull the rest of it. Put that outer and nut in and you can drive it again without replacing the CV. If you dont have a front locker you'll only be 2WD but it should get you off of the trail and home so you can fix it without having to swap CVs on your back on the side of a trail.

There's your helpful hint for the day

Cap is right. All the seals and boots are over 140+ buy a CV from the part store for $70 and steal all the parts
