yep I was thinking there has to be a caulk filler that has a granite coloration /texture. they use it to caulk the edges of countertops right?

That's a good one. I wonder why there's so much difference.

A couple of weeks ago I was driving down a forest service road and when I hit rougher patches, I could hear a thumping that I would normally attribute to some sort of bushing starting to go on me. it only happened 4 or 5 times that trip and since then I haven't heard it. it was driver side front and when I got out and looked around in there, I couldn't see anything obvious at all. steering isn't loose, theres not steering wheel vibes, it was just a noise I could hear and feel through the floorboards. it was a clearly audible "thump". any ideas on what I should be looking at? ive never messed with suspensions at all.

This could be a solution- if structural.
Thank you! Unfortunately, I have a drop in "cooktop". I literally have a square hole in a granite counter top. Needs to support the entire weight.
    I wish I had a normal stove top/range!
I wish this was my problem. o_O
House came with a downdraft drop in cooktop- I am very limited. Nothing current fits- they all have smaller cutout requirements- even though they are all 30" cooktops.
    Me too! :p

Just called a custom metal filler company- but they said its all non structural- only for appearance to even out slight cutout variations. :annoyed: I am screwed. I may end up having to reconfigure the base cabinet/cut granite for a slide in range oven or replace the granite with new cutout size- which could also lead to having to replace all my base cabinets. :frusty:

    Thanks for responses-

We had a drop in oven/cooktop. When we went to replace it they were so much more expensive than the floor standing ones. We were doing new counter tops, so I put it the floor model instead. I take it yours is just the cooktop?

yea I just figured I would see a boot or bushing worn or dry rotted or wear marks on metal somewhere. anything out of the ordinary really. but nope. and I realllllllllllly don't want to take it anywhere and pay unneeded money for someone to look at the same shit ive already looked at and just say yea, your dohickeys look a little worn lets replace all these whatchamajjiggers and see if that solves the problem

Yes. Changing to a slide in may even effect flooring. Need to have a down draft too. All my appliances have failed inside of 10 years from my new construction home. Whirlpool Gold that builder used. I never even liked the stupid cooktop, lol!
