    Yes, and I have a separate island too. o_O Just had to replace dishwasher AND wall oven/microwave combo too. Oven failed on Thanksgiving day. Dishwasher was on its last legs- replaced both with a Black Friday sale.

    Cooktop has burners that turn off automatically, work sometimes, or remain glowing red for 20+mins after turned off. Removing granite could damage base cabinets- then would be tuff to match if replacements needed. Slide in downdraft, cutting granite, an some base cabinet reconfigure, floorboard patch may be cheapest solution- but still vastly more expensive than simply replacing the fricken' cooktop... :bananadead:

    You may want to check into having a metal shop custom fab a nice metal frame you drop in. Paint it to a color in your counter top or cooktop. Then you could drop the new cook top into the frame and caulk it all up.
