Here's what I know about the horse pasture and "Mustard grounds".

When I moved here in "01", I was told by a fellow worker that alot of people bear hunted up there. It was very rough terrain and you needed a 4x4 to traverse the 24 miles from Granny gear at the timmerman entrance to rocky bottom.

I moved back to indiana 2 yrs later and returned to SC again in "07".
At this time I had heard that they had graded most of it and laid gravel down.
My first time up there was "2008" and yes, you could litterally drive a mini van through it.

So...april and nov I would always go up.
Sometimes I would start from rocky bottom and sometimes from granny gear going a little farther each time from each end (I wheel alone) and was always apprehensive about driving all the way thru because there are so many spur trails that you could get lost on.

Finally I entered from the granny gear entrance one saturday and drove several hrs and I recognized a split that I have seen from the other side. Kept going....and came out the rocky bottom side.

There are some primitive places to camp and they just redid another campsite last time I was up last year near a creek crossing that looks like it would be a great place to set some tents up.
The other campsite is at a creek crossing as well with a wooden bridge or you could just drive thru the creek.

The horse pasture is NOT a place to wheel or off road. They are gravel travels (and some walking trails) meant for sightseeing, bird watching, taking the family and stuff.

The most spectacular area is "Jumping off rock" and the spur rd that leads to a boat launch area right into the lake.

Clemson off road has some trail rides up that way. I have ran across 30 some jeeps in that area.
It's a great place to air down your tires, take a camera and a lunch or tents if you are camping and get away from it all. There are some spectacular views.
I've caught many trout at the rocky bottom bridge.

I wouldn't exactly say you could drive a mini van out there. I've been on a few trails that challaged my truck a little (noting it is 2wd). I wasn't panning on it being a hard core wheeling trip, I just figured some guys would enjoy the ride. I have a bunch of pics on my build thread if any is interested. I can't go this weekend because I have 5 tests and a speech this coming week.

It does it while accelerating and just driving it quiets down when I get up to speed but I notice it really loud when accelerating and slowing down without braking I've taken both front wheels off and checked for the dust shields rubbing but didn't look like they were ima try and clean in there really good and double check everything tomorrow morning

if you lift each front wheel off the ground, check to see if there is any movement if you take and shake it left to right. would indicate wheel bearings. if you turn and it goes away on one side, that's a good indicator as well.
