The whole thing is stupid. Especially about the bumpers and sliders. They look nothing alike. For fuck sakes I did most of the design work on the plate 1 and 2 and I'd never seen a Pelfrybuilt or BAMF bumper. All I knew was, I like angles and I can't afford to buy a bumper. I've probably still got the drawings I did around here. I think I had about 10 posts on here at the time. I actually took inspiration from a GX470 home built bumper on Expedition Portal. I got its builders blessing BTW, and I'm sure I still have that PM.

Eddy was also building Aluminum bumpers before Pelfry.

Eddy posted this, and a few days later Pelfry posted the same picture in the same pose with his new aluminum bumper. That picture has apparently been taken down. But not this one which I believe was also after Eddy's first aluminum rack.

What I really want to know is what, specifically, is too similar and needs to be changed. A blanket "redesign everything" doesn't really help. It still has to look like a bumper and fit a second gen Tacoma. Is it the cutouts? Nobody else is doing the angled front triangular design that I know of. Everything else is pretty much flat. The Plate 2 is 3D. I just don't get it. If I can get specifics I can help with the redesign. And I can probably make things cooler than the previous.

What exactly has jberry built or done?

All bumpers will have same lines, all skids will be flat. Still can't believe it was all over a disclaimer

And let me guess, they will probably say his bed rack is a copy too... Just bent steel.

That was just a BS excuse to shit on a guy for competing with the big dogs. Had it not been that it would have been something else

This whole thing blows my mind!

Looks to me if vendors wanna bitch then 90% of these
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/armor/164975-bumpers-2nd-gens-only.html
should be doing a redesign anyway.

Bumpers for the same truck all have similar looks and I don't care what one fabricator says to another, everyones bumper design has been influenced by another design one way or another.

The relentless bumper, ArmorTech bumper, Elite bumper, Famous Fab bumper, Shrockworks bumper all look similar to me and I don't hear any bitching....Competition baby, if you can't handle it GTFO.

Companies (bikes for example) make the same product and throw different logos on it all the time and sell it for totally different prices.

I don't understand how something actually custom made and each one different can even be remotely compared to taking someones design or how someone can even accuse someone of having a similar design when there is no patient or anything protecting their right to make that claim.....I need to stop now and get to work. Shit bugs the piss out of me.

    PS.

Everyone of these sliders (w/o) kickout looks exactly the same....so fucking what, guess they all need a damn new redesign too. I don't get it.

It's a stupid excuse to try and beat the competition with school girl drama. This is the same reason I left the jeep forums. I originally thought this was a tight nit site of enthusiasts and it helped me decide to choose a tacoma because of that following. It makes me wanna stop getting on.

That's exactly what it is. Highschool girl drama. There is no merit to the bumpers or sliders being ripped off and that's 90% of sales. They're just trying to use their pull with admin to push a new guy out of buisness

TW POLITICS. I deal with enough of this $hit in Corp America. Now I have to come on here and deal with it too. this is a place to escape from all that.

Agree with everybody. Especially Scott, should have been handled behind the scenes and if that didn't work then go public. I use to enjoy getting on here but kind of starting to dislike it. Its almost as bad a the ttora site. If you don't break it or SAS it then your a poser. Really? I'll wheel with anybody. Don't care what they are in. Even if it was a Honda crv. At the end of the day we are all doing what we enjoy.

Hey guys, sorry don't mind the outa-stater. I actually sent a letter to the mods yesterday pretty much reiterating what you-all have been saying in here. I've been looking at designs by everyone all morning. They all have their similarities and their differences. But the common theme is they are different enough. On the sliders, there are four+ Companies running the same design with the square tube and round combo, but not being in the know on these things I'm not even sure if that is the issue. As for the bumper, there is not a single design out there that even looks like eddy's its a very unique design which I've always thought set him apart from the others. sorry wanted to throw in my 2cents since this seems to be the only area that's looking at this from the other side...

totally agree. What really pissed me off is when one of the mods stepped in and just posted  they should have locked that thread before it got that out of hand. Regardless, won't stop me from buying Eddy's stuff.

Look at Relentless, famous Fab, and shrockworks. They are look very similar. Don't see a thread bashing them. But it is what it is.

If Eddy decides to redesign hopefully sales will sky rocket and he will beat the competition :) what will they say then?

I mean to me these 2 sets of sliders that are being compared do not look like the same design. To me it looks like 2 different fabricators work that have put their own twist on the way the kick out is built.
Why are they even compared to each other?
    38987d1b89cdb3a41871bbe8a2d4821c_3557a4e8df6289bbc639360fc7b27f634e44b70f.jpg

To me looks like the ones on the right are more similar to all poos design so who is coping who here?

    3e01fe494c2602ccacf42b851a291731_9d8861b91e81f06af03e84930a9f2a3f2024b70e.jpg
This shouldn't even be a discussion, the item at discussion was the website, not the work...this all should be thrown out of TW court now that the item at hand was resolved lmao

If we really want to get technical here. What about retrofits?? I see at least 4-5 vendors that offer them, all same "design" same product. I don't see them calling out each other that one set of lights are the same as another (even though they make the same ones)......

Same with Satoshi grills...everyone makes those and sells them. I don't see them being very different etc.

Can't be hypocritical about this and not do it across the board.

To what Scott said about those threads being in Eddy's vendor area. Those two threads should just be nuked just like they do with banned members. Seems like Eddy's trying to do right by what the mods have told him. Those shouldn't just hang out like bad press forever.

whaooo, the great one see's all! Which is great, I'm glad that Mods are able to see both sides of this discussion. Lot's of bashing going on from the other end but where is the point that people recognize what constitutes being different. How long someones been around?
