Hey guys, wondering how strong schedule 40 pipe is compared to HREW or DOM for sliders. A guy around here will make them and install for 350 but they're made out of schedule 40 tubing so not too sure if that is strong enough for use as sliders.
    Thanks!!!

    1-1/2" sch40 is .145 wall thickness.
    What's normal slider material .120?

I think sch40 will be thicker and heavier than normal.

    Yes,
Welcome to Tacoma world blacktaco. Take your time and compare from company to company. Also consider type of sliders (bolt on vs weld on), shipping, coating, and installation as well. Take your time with notes, and rule out companies as you go. Good luck sir!

    Yes,
Is said maker in his city? There might not be a charge if so. To me 350 sounds like a process is being skipped. (Price is low)

If you just want them for looks & door ding defense, go for it. AS off-road protection, it's gonna be useless

If said welder knows how to position the pipe for strength, I say go for it, the only draw back is they will be weigh more than your average sliders that cost more. That being said, they will take all the abuse that you can put them thru.

Pipe is not as strong as tube. I weld a shit ton of both for high pressure gas panels daily. Go with HREW at the minimum.

Thanks guys, yeah he's in my city... Having to pay shipping/welders seperately is goona be around 600ish but figured for 350$, with kickout, installed seems like a very good price but just wasn't sure on the strength of the sched 40... I won't be going too hard offroad with my truck since its my daily too but will definately be hitting up some trails in he future

He's got a good reputation around here too from the Toyota guys. Just can't find much on schedule 40 for sliders
