Stealer quoted me 1700 for 60k maintenance. I'm gathering supplies now. Figure it is not going to cost me more than 400 in supplies, I'll do the work myself with help of my Hayes manual, TW threads, and YouTube, and save 1400 smackaroos. Plus beautiful excuse to work on my rig that the wifey will agree with.

Question - my hayes manual has a lot more required maintenance than what is listed in the link in first post. I am required to do alot of things that are listed as things to check. I got a 2015 and again this is per my hayes manual.

I'm half way done and I am going to do it as directed in my manual. Curious where the discrepancy is though for the differences. Thoughts?

My list at 60k is (alot is from the every 30k schedule)

    Fluid changes
    -front diff
    - transfer case
    -rear diff
    -transmission
    -oil
    -coolant
    -brake fluid

    Other
    Air filter
    In cab filter
    Spark plugs
    Throttle body/MAF cleaning
    -grease driveline zerks
    -retorque driveline bolts
    -check alot of various things

Our trucks come with 3 denzo spark plugs and 3 NGK spark plugs off the factory line. Not sure why, but I know Toyota dealers and parts department only carry denzo. So if they change them during servicing you end up with 6 denzo. My truck was still under warranty at 30k so I had the dealership do my 30k maintenance for free. I checked my records and this included a spark plug change as it should of per the service schedule by Toyota. Well today I changed my spark plugs for my 60k and there were 3 NGK still in there. Those fuckers did not change them at 30k.

Also cleaned my throttle body and MAF .. plus new air filter. Did my diffs and tcase last weekend. Just got oil/filter, in cab filter, grease zerks, and retorque various bolts left.

Soon I will have accomplished my 60k myself. I'm no mechanic but love working on my truck and learning as i go.

It’s unbelievable what dealerships get away with these days... I’ve had my share of dealing with their BS as well. Glad to hear you got it all taken care of and are seeing the light through their smoke.

Finally caught up on my 60k maintenance this weekend except for the front diff. Didn't have a breaker bar long enough to break the drain plug free, seems my local Toyota dealership really torqued it down when I had it in for service shortly after I did the 30k work which required a fluid drain and refill up front. :annoyed:

You probably already know this, but be very careful not to strip the front drain plug. Really make sure your 10mm hex socket is deeply and squarely inserted into the drain plug hex hole (you may need to clean mud out of the hole). If it's crooked and/or not fully seated and you apply a ton of torque, that thing will strip.

Same here, Just did most of my 60k myself over two weekends and upgraded the ECGS bearing. Will do the throttle body and MAF this weekend and change out all air filters. I will wait to do trans, brakes and coolant until 100k or when they show signs of issues whichever comes first.

The '14 Tacoma Sport has 57,200 miles on it and I'm gearing up the 60,000 mile service in the next few weeks. Assembling parts and tools now. This thread is golden when approaching the task. Glory be.
