Your location is dependent on which viscosity of fluid you use. It looks like you are in the LA area, so 75w90 is fine, or you could go just a little thicker as well, like a 80 or 85w, since you live in a warm climate. If you lived in lets say, canada, then a lower viscosity would be better. I use Mobil 1 gear oil in my diffs because it is synthetic and it has a reasonable price, but many here have used red line and have been 100% satisfied. Truthfully, you could use any off brand gear oil and be good as long as you change it out at the recommended intervals. Hope this helps, good luck

Just wanted to say thanks to the OP for such a complete guide. I took care of my 60,000 mile maintenance over the weekend without any issues. Prior to this I had no real automotive maintenance experience other than oil changes. It felt good to do the work myself while saving a ton of money.

Question should anything else be done as regular maintenance besides what is on this list?

Like how often should my radiator be flushed and refilled?

How about any other items of maintenance?

Radiator is 100k per Toyota. You can also flush, or freshen up your power steering fluid.

Depending on if you have your owners manual maintenance log, it says replace at 100k or 120 months, then after that, every 50k or 60 months. You can also go to toyotas owners website and register your truck with the VIN and get the maintenance log there. Other than that, what else you need as far as a link? Instructions on how to do it? Should be a thread on here somewhere for DIY.

You may want to change your brake fluid as it is hygroscopic - readily taking up and retaining moisture - which is NG for brake cylinders.

I'm semi-mechanically inclined and thinking to do this work myself and save some money.

Where are the 5 grease zerks on the 4x4 model?

Does anyone have the inspection criteria to look for on what seems to be a major inspection cost (opposed to actual work).

I see the torque settings for the propeller shaft. Someone mentioned that there is suppose to be two torque settings... one to make sure things are pulled in and a second final to set the bolt at. Does anyone know if this is true as the PDF only shows a single torque valve. I also noticed it calls out non-reusable rings/clips? Do most just go to the stealership and get some clips?

How do you grease your univesal joints? do you have to take them apart to torque the properller shaft?

    So here's my situation:

I've got a 2007 PreRunner and it is now 2013. I just hit 15k miles on it.

I get regular oil changes and so on, but I'm wondering. Should I be getting like the 50 or 60k mile service done due to the age of the truck ?

Or should I only be doing the 15k mile service?

I've looked at the guide, but I'm not that savvy as many of you. I know I certainly cannot do the spark plugs on my own.

    Thank you

Considering it's an air-tight system, just how does it collect moisture?

If it makes you feel better, then do it. If my truck had low miles, but was a little older, I would, but it may not be needed.
