@InThePlains, assuming that you're not trolling, here is some math for you.

If I change vehicles right now by going from a '23 mint taco to a slightly used, well equipped full sized truck, I out $15k. New seats sound like I am saving $9K. Most of my 'Taco drives are 3-7 hours with occasional 14 hour drives.

It is not only-Taco problem. Good seats are usually found in expensive trims.

@ToleranceSTACK - have you had any conversations with Toyota about getting S-M seats as a standard option?

I would like to know how many have actually spent $6k of their own money on a pair of seats on their Tacoma.

My pest control guys all drive Tacoma, 7 days a week, 2 shifts, 35-40k miles a year. Never heard of them complaining about the seats.

Way above our pay grade. Toyota has their own Go Fast seats they've been working on.

On their Tacoma? Very very very VERY few, mainly because it was never even an option. Those that have done it have found, and lived with, avoiding certain precautions.

Have you ever asked them? If I went to my boss and whined about seats I would be laughed out of the office. So I shut my mouth, as most folks who don't want to be ridiculed would do.

I've spent over twice that on my topper, but I still run the factory wheels/tires. It's all about priorities. It would be easy to spend $6k on new tires/wheels/suspension(which would definitely make my truck look cooler), but I would rather spend the cash on my only complaint with my truck- the crappy seats. I've been using a Tempur-Pedic back pillow since day one of ownership!

Point is- there's probably more people than you might think that have spent $6k modding their Tacos.

People will drop $6-10K on Taco mods all day every day. Also, many of those mods will come useful only once in a while. Good seats? Everyday.

Also, not everyone knows what good seats are like.

Are you obligated to notify your insurance company that your vehicle is no longer equipped with front side impact airbags?

What about the states with mandatory inspections, will it pass?

There are very few "firsts" you get as a brand new company trying to make their impact on the world. of social media. Although we have had a handful of first orders, this is our first set of front seat adapter kits with scheel-mann seats.

For this customer out in Michigan he was ditching his power driver seat out of his Tacoma and replacing with Scheel-mann Vario F seats in order to make the drive much more comfortable for his long drives for his hunting trips.

Exciting to see another "first" go out the door.

    Hardware Kits

How to assemble hardware kits? Believe it or not this is something we wrestled with for a long time. We knew we didn’t want the same lame “stuff everything into a plastic zip bag” solution for handling the hardware. We knew what we didn’t like but it was tough trying to figure out something slick for the hardware organization. We considered tackle box trays or little component boxes but it seems that anytime we need to change the contents of the kit it meant trying to find a new ready made box. We actuallly considered a piece of cardboard with. Bunch of holes for the bolts but even that didn’t feel great.

Enter 3D printing. Although no parts of the seat adapters are plastic, much less 3D printed, we did realize we had a better solution for handling the hardware in a VERY organized fashion and look really good.

A place for everything and everything in its place…at least until its time to install your new @scheelmannusa seats ;)

Removing a side airbag is unavoidable, compromising the rest of the SRS system is not.

Yeah I bet. Kind of like spending 6k on seats for a midsize pickup truck. :)

One question that pops up is asking about the difficulty about installing the seat bracket kit in the Tacoma (or FJ Cruiser), particularly on the driver side. Well, we actually design things as far as we can possibly go to make installation as plug-n-play as possible.

On the driver side in particular the hardest part of the install is actually just drilling out the spot welds to remove the "tower" from the slide rails. Because these are spot welds the metal is actually hardened. We found that doing this by hand with a standard hand drill can be taxing because the metal is so hard. We've learned that using a dremel or small cut off wheel to grind an "X" onto the spot welds is the easiest way to remove the spot welds.

There are specialized spot welds but those are pretty spendy for something you may only use once.

What if I don’t those seats could I still be able to use the brackets and bypass the srs?

That is a nice looking seat, (not 6g's nice, but nice). The base though, that makes it look kind of funky, like something off of my lawnmower seat...?

So the reality is we don't know. Our seat bracket designs are all built around the scheel-mann seat because they were the ones that supplied us with the seats to design around. Could it work with non-scheel-man? Maybe/maybe not. But if it did work with some other aftermarket seat then yeah the same SRS proxy would work either way.
