I have Recaro's in my Cruiser and it was a pretty major puzzle to solve with the passenger airbag sensor.

Unfortunately I cannot answer your question, but am very interested myself. From what I've seen the issue with the seat swap in the Tacoma has been the rails. The attempts I've seen have halted at custom rails and it seems no one has been able to have any fabricated.

I had to have custom brackets fab'd for the Recaro's. Not to worried about that as I have options to get that done properly.

I emailed them about this before and this was their reply:

'Thanks for reaching out. I have copied Chris from our dealer Metaltech 4x4. They are going to make adapter brackets to fit your truck. I will let him tell you more.' - @scheel-mann.com

'Thank you for reaching out. Currently we offer the Planted Technologies seat brackets to fit your Tacoma. There is currently no option that I am aware of to make the Occupant Detection System happy when changing out seats. Let me know if you have any questions about fitment into your truck. Thanks!'- www.metaltech4x4.com

I have the full schematics for the 200 series Land Cruiser airbag system. Without those it was impossible to circumvent. With them there's still no way to have the system actively determining the occupants weight but you can hot wire it with the proper resistor to always be armed. So long as you don't put a kid in the seat you should be golden. Hope I never have to find out, but I'm 100% confident that the airbags would deploy in an accident.

I'm assuming the Taco system is very similar....

That's interesting and I don't see why they would not deploy with your hot wiring method... wish I knew that at the time since I don't ever drive kids around.

If I decide to delve into it I'll be sure to share the process.

When you're use to Recaro Ergo Med's it's tough to tolerate anything less perfect. If this was my main rig I wouldn't hesitate to embark on unfucking it. I'm still pretty motivated to sort it out though. Just not sure when the time / money equation will line up as there's quite few things taking priority over it right now.

I’m very interested in how this turns out? I am very unhappy with the stick seats in the taco, after going from a disco it’s cheese and chalk

going through this right now. the passenger occupancy is 4 sensors 1 at each corner of the seat connected to a small ecu. it’s gonna be a real pain in the dick to resolve.

any electrical engineers wanna dive into this?

yep I'm running these in my taco to me a huge improvement but you will still have to account for the tacoma low slung seat position
speak to metal tech 4x4 wasn't too hard to do

Have to have deep pockets to buy these, but they're the best.
