I'll believe a turbo version when I see one. Most of the rumors have been a rehash of someone else's rumor.

I've almost come to terms with there being no turbo model. But I'm a bit worried that the direct injection will make it hard to tune properly.

I would much rather have the World Toyota Version to the Scion... Or hopefully you can convert a Scion to a Toyota easily. This is a cool car, so long as it doesn't have Camry handling...

This car was designed w/ balance, lightweight and low cost in mind so to offer a turbo model would throw off the dynamics. That's not to say that the aftermarket companies will offer one.

I posted a link about the ECU already being tapped so there is hope.

If you can bring one from Europe then it would be possible. The main differences between the Toyota (aside from RHD) are:

    -Toyota emblems
    -86 steering wheel
    -white fender reflector
    -tail reflector is clear
    -HVAC center console is different
    -gauge cluster
-LED headlights (might be available from Scion as an option)

A Scion -> Toyota conversion can be done.

    It's more Subaru than Toyota.

Still a sweet car but definitely needs about 100 more horses:D

    Too many mods to list
I was going to get this. The 3.8 one and turbo it. But then I noticed that everyone and their mother has one down here. While I know I would modify mine heavily, it would still be everywhere and eventually annoy me.

Only thing that keeps my sanity about my Tacoma is that I have yet to see one with all the mods I have done to it, locally or anywhere for that matter. That is apart from a SEMA one that had a black interior.

I would most likely get the Subaru version of this car, which is what I have been closely following. Traveling the world is however killing what I wanted to put towards this though. :(

I have no doubt there will be some sweet turbo kits for this, but being someone who has done a NA-T conversion its a lot of work and headache to get them working just right. It is much better to start with something that is turbo from the factory. Plus i doubt any of the aftermarket kits will be Carb Legal. Also much easier to conceal turbo upgrades on a car that is already turbo than to try to conceal an entire turbo kit.
