Yea the fronts would only work in the rear with a thicker pack like the expos. I just drilled a hole in the factory bumpout area on the frame and bolted it there so it hits the middle of the AP flip plate at bump. You need to cut the u-bolts down so they dont hit your frame. Sawsall works fine.

Test run with the tent. A few of you know but this is not my actual tent... I ordered a Shasta and got a Bachelor  Bobby (CVT) is the man and is setting the mix-up straight like a textbook business man should. He said just use it until he gets the Shasta to me. Anyways, if you live in WY or a neighboring state and want a deal on a "demo" Bachelor PM me. There are a few who are pretty interested already...

Pictars! Since this was a quick setup it is not totally put together, ie no annex or fly supports...

Yep, I knew it was going to be low but I needed/wanted a way to mount it for the remainder of this summer!!! And since I dont have a welder or a bender this is what I have to roll with... This winter's project will be the perfect rack (probably a +10 inch above the bed rails style). And honestly I dont miss the rear view too much. I use my mirrors and dont turn around/look to back up or see things so i'm used to just looking in my side mirrors aaaand I have a backup camera...

Photo bomb and mini-trip report :)

Got some advice from Monte(blackdog) and his dad on where to go in the Bighorns near Shell, WY... Had a blast!

    Started here:
    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=44.546656,-107.499253&hl=en&num=1&t=m&z=15

and took that road that splits off left all the way back in by willet creek and followed it back out to hwy 14. That is where the majority of the pictures and video is from. Fun trail, few water crossings, and some tight spots. Then drove back down hwy 14 and went back in to shell reservoir and stayed the night. Great spot to explore and enjoy!

How much weight do you normally have (or in this picture) in the bed? I'm estimating you have probably a net gain of probably not even 50# with the the rear H/C? You have 700# coils in the front also, correct? Just curious because it looks like the rear is a little below the front even with the Expo's in this picture at least.

Your truck looks so nice. So jealous of the area you live in. N. Va sucks to have any outdoor fun. Congrats on the tent too.

In that picture there is the 125# tent, ~20#rack, my thick rubber bed mat weighs at least 60#, hi-lift, and the big 50 Gallon tote in the back has one 60# bag of sand, all my tools/spare parts I might need on the road plus recovery gear and some other random stuff, the tote is full lol. I'd guess the tote weighs 200ish pounds...I should really weigh it. damn i just added that up. 400 pounds + That is why i'm not stink bug like most ppl with expos...

Fuck, those Expo's are tough. I am so conflicted about them. My rear will probably add a net gain of about 200# with the removal of stock bumper/hitch. I will be adding a bed mat, so that's about 50#, plus the Hi-Lift I already have, but that almost doesn't even matter.

I just don't want to be really ass high, but I suppose I would rather throw more shit in the bed to level it out then be sagging and not be able to do anything about it.

Yea, I am very glad I went with the expos, you dont think about it but its easy to add up weight in the bed and not realize it. The bed mat I have is a 3/4 inch thick horse stall mat and cost 35 bucks at the local feed store. Same kind of stuff they put on weight room floors.

Also Matt, I am not running 700# coils up front. I have no weight over stock up front besides whatever weight the sliders add to the front axle. The coils are whatever came on the coilovers, 600 or 620 i believe..?

Thanks Colton! I see your truck is running again!?

Sounds right. It's printed on the coil, i'll look later. I didn't go thru Powell, else I probably would have got er weighed. Talking to some peeps about skids today... Bout smashed that low hanging part of the exhaust to shit this weekend. good dent in it now.
    Mini list:
re-route stupid low hanging cross over pipe
get my actual tent and mount it
    skids?
figure out popping noise in front end...
    get rig weighed
    complimentary oil change
try to clean dust out of the interior

For those still curious the coils on my coilovers are 600 pounders. I figured out what the popping noise in the front end was... one of my alignment cam bolts keeps loosening  Time to red loc-tite that shit. Greased the UCA's while the coilovers were out and did a once over to all the front end torques, all were solid except that LCA bolt. I hope everything stays quiet for now, i'm tired of pulling the front end of my truck apart :(

Also, my truck is about to get a bit heavier  no messing around if i'm going to take a run at the shoshone lake trail...

Use the green loctite if you can. It is the automotive grade. Same type is used on drive shaft bolts.
