Got email confirm that the leafs are gonna be here after I leave... lame. Also got the truck back last night after the dealer had it all day to tell me there is nothing wrong. Guess I'm just crazy, but we'll see if it makes it to WI and back lol! I have a hard time believing that knocking noise i'm hearing is normal since every other 2nd gen with a 1gr-fe i've heard doesn't make that sound... anyone else care to guess what you hear in the below video?

Did this a few times while in WI over Christmas. Not crazy cold but still really cold starts.

That's -12*f motor temp at start up.

Replacement expo leafs are on the truck. Still in the garage with heaters on it drying new paint so no pics or reports on them. Tomorrow i'll update on the new leafs.

nope, dealer said they didn't find anything out of the ordinary... still does it occasionally. I stopped filling up with the ethanol free gas and it got better so who knows. :notsure:

New leafs gave me 3/4"more lift than old and droop out better. Not 100% better but I'm happy where it's at.

Looks good Mark. Did the existing bump height work out? I'd assume it would be ok, kinda bummer on setting it all up on a bad set of springs.

Mine are a bit lower than they used to be as well, I guess they all sag after time and abuse. I'm probably going to flip shackles to gain the lost height and get a bit more clearance from the bumps initial strike position. The droop won't change but I like the extra clearance of that type of hanger, factory ones hang pretty low.

I'm going to weld on a 1/4" spacer plate where the bump strikes to make up for it, possibly a 1/2".. I'm going to try both and see which one makes the spring look best under full bump.

How will you get more up travel without more negative arch with the flip? I've really thought about it as well but was unsure because of that issue. Maybe I just cant picture it.. ha

oh and I had to repaint the clearcoat on the hoop cuz it was rusting like a mofo! oh well, I kinda like it all black...

hydro bumpstops? I don't remember off the top of my head, you can check DSM for sure for pricing, it's where I got mine.

Edit: sounds about right Monte. Plus the bolt on/weld on mount if you go that route vs the pelfreybilt integrated stlye.

I'll just accept more neg arch, I set mine up to bump pretty early so adding an addl 3/4" shouldn't be too bad.
Bummer on the clear coat. Guess it's tough in the cold country. Seems like I could leave mine bare around here and might start to show surface rust after a few years.
