Full droop with the coilover in is like an 1/8" shorter than without, so I may not need straps cuz the internal rubber bumper should match up perfect with the uniball bottom out. We'll see when I get it out for a romp tomorrow.

Didn't get it off the pavement today Monte, got out for dinner with friends. Buuut their place is on a dirt road with some nasty holes which i purposefully hit and it felt mucho bueno. Remember how the rear felt planted when you rode in it, the front feels closer to that now, the extra rebound is awesome.

Trucks looking good Marc! I have a 1/4 spacer under my superbumps as well but will have to remove once I trim the fenders to allow more bump :D

I totally must've missed the dirt king install on your truck. How are they so far? I've got some rash on my stockLCAs...holding up nice and sturdy? They don't provide extra travel do they? :spy:

    Here you go Dave:

I would love to run less bump spacers too, but my 700 lb coils get into coil bind without them. The coil size and repetition is tight enough on the 700 lb coil that it limits the shock travel a tad by binding...kinda scary actually, someday i'll have a coil/shock solution. The bind is another reason I dont run much preload and my truck isnt really lifted much up front. When I go hard my 33"ers still eat the tops of my wheel wells...

The DK lowers are great so far. Not sure if i'm getting much more travel because of them, never measured with stocks in. I'm just happy as a clam to have no ball joints in the front suspension (besides tie rod ends). They are super beefy and added a fair amount of solid feel in steering and braking due to the derlin bushings.

Got out to my favorite stretch of two track today. Extremely happy with how the truck is performing. Sections of the road I had to go 45 before to keep from bottoming out hard I was ripping over at 65. Blew me away how comfortable it felt. High speed compression could get bumped up a tiny bit more if I was to get picky but it's miles better as is from before. Front and rear are on par with each other now, just rocks! Valving is a tricky bastard but when you get it close to right....

    Full Stuff:

    Full Droop:

So about 11.5" of travel metal to metal. My ORI's limit my down travel by about an 1" of that at the wheel, which is why n0rth added 1/2" spacers to gain that back. He was getting some CV bind on those cheap A1's though so he had to add limit straps to limit it some, but not sure just how much.

This is as far as it would stuff without a bump stop in. It started to pick the truck up off the jack stands.

I don't have a pick but it measured the same distance with the bump in and the weight of the truck sitting on it
    [IMG]

There were 2.5" of ORI shaft showing at full stuff like that. When I added the 3/8" spacer I still have 2.5" of shaft showing at full stuff. That tell me that the superbumps were definitely too short and something else was working as my bumpstop... Probably my LBJ...

haha, yea likely LBJ. 11.5 is a big number! Full inch over what I got but I did have 3/4" of that inch in just spacers. Dumb coil bind is robbing me of uptravel!

Yeah. I'll bet you would measure about what I have if you took at least one of those spacers out and set the whole weight of the truck on the bump to really compress it.

It still surprises me how soft those super bumps are.

Ok gots a question for ya folks. Icon said they use a "linear" rate coil which does nothing to the coil when cranking down on the coil and only affects "ride quality." Maybe doesnt have coil bind :notsure: You guys know anything about this? Is this different than what King uses? I found this out when I ordered my 700# coils from Icon Is this top secret info?!?! :spy:

linear just means the coil rate stays constant through out the compression.

Progressive means the rate increases as the coil compresses.

Icon also uses digressive valving compared to progressive valving.

hmm, i think it just comes from having to use more material to get the 700# coil rating in that smaller coilover space. I think progressive coils have a curved shape on one end? I'll have to look into icons 700 lb coil.

Steve you and Brady lol...I just figured out coilovers for my rig, not going to attempt ORI's any time soon, just gonna ride now :D
