I drive down a street called, "Rising Sun" at 5:45am...no problems for me as of yet for glare. (They appropriately named this street because guess what happens later on in the day?)

Since owning my truck for the past 17 months or so, I have been fortunate not to have glare come off the hood/skewp that interfered with my driving.

That's not to say, "it won't happen".

That's what I've learned about forums.

I started out on gixxer.com when I acquired my first bike in 2011...yeah, it was a Y2K750! (Doh)

Since then, I have learned quite a bit about forums.

I do like it here, though...a lot of things have to be ignored. The moment you focus on something, it's like "target fixation"...not a good thing.

I have long rallied against non-functional design elements on vehicles.

Hood scoops that don’t actually channel air or are connected to intercoolers and fake panel vents that don’t vent brakes or connect to auxiliary radiators are some of my biggest pet peeves.

    They just look tacky.

My 2013 4Runner trail edition had a pointless scoop.

My friend who is an aviation engineer complimented the scoop and said how it must channel air into the engine and vent during slow off-roading, and I told him no, it’s just a shitty decoration.

Chrome is good, air dam, and shark fin have a purpose, the scoop doesn't.

I like the scoop, could have done without one. On a white Sport the glare is bad from hood. I am looking for decal to help tone it down some. Wearing sun glasses helps but I forget sometimes.

I can tolerate stuff like that if they actually accomplish something functional, but other than looking stupid on these trucks those scoops do nothing.

Etsy, my friends, will eliminate all glare problems for 30 bucks.

I kind of like this decal for my BRM TRD Sport, unfortunately it doesn't have a decal portion for the skewp.

373 pages and counting, almost all looking to swap for a skewp. lol anti skewp guys. Lots of things on lots of vehicles are "decorative" Love the skewp. I think it makes the front stance even more badass, which is most assuredly how a majority of TW thinks and the reason for the 373 page swap thread. If I was off-roading a lot I would have gotten an OR no doubt. But to each their own.

    Agreed.
Even this veteran Toyota mechanic... The non functional scoop comes up in the video, and I'm thinking "here it comes", and instead he's "Ya know, I really like it. It looks good"

I don’t care for the scoop but to each their own. If I had to choose, I like the sport scoop more than the Pro scoop. I’m not sure about the differences between the two other than the color but the black scoop looks tacky.

I always enjoy the Tacoma owners with fake beadlocks that rail on the stupidity of non-functional scoops.

When I had my 2nd gen I was always looking for a scooped hood. I noticed it was a lot of older guys wanting to increase their sightlines so they wanted to flat hood. So if you are shorter or eyesight not as good, maybe it's a thought?

I ended up buying a $40k hood scoop attached to a manual 3rd gen because I like them so much. I wish it was functional, but I also wish the truck was faster. And lighter.

I installed a small LED light bar in mine that illuminates white or does the KR strobe back and forth — but you importantly cannot have it be red. It is illegal to display ANY red lights in the front of a civilian passenger vehicle. You can use white or amber. I only turn mine on at car shows or driving some trails.

If you use red you’ll draw the negative attention of every LEO.
