Just a thought, When you see pictures of India, and other counties. They all use Scooters and motor bikes everywhere by the hundreds on the streets.

Due to gas prices? Will we see our roads with hundreds of motorize bikes? In the near future?

It'll take a little more than that.

Most countries where scooters are the norm, gas is cheap. Shockingly cheap. It's a sad tangent to the story that the most prevalent drug of choice in Angola is a diesel soaked rag. Fuel is cheaper than water there.

The reason why scooters are so common are due to the huge income disparity / poverty wage gap. You can pick up a scooter for the equivalent of 300-500 USD in most places, and even that will take most people years of saving if they're taking home less than 100 dollars a month. A car is a distant dream, as much as a mansion with actual clean running water, and a TV in every room. Scooters exist because it's the only transport within reach.

The second part of your question, whether we will ever see that here, I'm not going to open up on that topic on TW.
Someone will try to talk about it, and it was nice knowing them. :cookiemonster:

Good thought, I'd suspect you might at least in more rural areas.

Though I can see it wouldn't work well in my area (Massachusetts) at least not year round.

Thank you for your thoughts, seeing the scooter in front of the Tacoma, told me the future is here! Lol

Hawaii made some strict regulations for tourist rental of scooter, now you rarely see any tourists driving like before. There were a few Scooter shop, Sales and repair shop growing , now hard to find. Many of the shops were increasing the HP , making them in the motorcycle class.
50cc and not more then 30 miles a hour, no drivers license needed, minimum age 15 years old. All scooter must be registered.

For tourists to rent must be 18 years old and requires a valid drivers license.

Burgman 650 is my first actual scooter. I have been riding bikes since I could walk. Had way more motorcycles in my life then loose women. Cool thing bout the burgman is the low center of gravity, able to go 100 mph and still get close to 40 mpg doing it! Riding conservative get close to 60 mpg. Last couple years I’ve had a company car so basically this thing he has been in mothballs. But starting Wednesday new job and will be riding the scooter every day. Glad I did not sell..

Never own a motor bike nor did I have loose women. I guess that works out just fine. Mostly 4x4s,
    Being married over 30 years.

I recently acquired a scooter. It is not because of gas prices but for those trips to the beaches and the park. It is just more convenient compared to the truck. The scooter is a Yamaha Vino 125. It has that classic style and pretty peppy off the line. Unfortunately, they don’t make them anymore.
