I'm assuming the gun is a .223, most states require .24 caliber or above to hunt deer, make sure you check that first! (Yeah, america says its good enough for people, but not deer in most places)

    .223 is a .22 caliber bullet.... That's why it's called a .223... And not 243...

I thought the caliber laws were more about rimfire and centerfire. I know here in SC, it doesnt matter as long as it is centerfire.

Here too also, in MO. Plus suppressors are OK, but not night vision.

It's center fire only as well where I'm at in VA, but we have a .24 caliber rule as well, I thought most states had that?

When it comes to sights or optics, do not be cheap here. I use my AR in multigun competition and what I have found that works the best for me and reasonably priced is the Burris MTAC 1-4x. acts similar to a reflex sight at close range and you can turn it up for longer yardage. I shoot out to 300 yds with this set up fairly regular as well as CQB scenarios. I had an eotech on it and switched to the MTAC because poor shooting position can effect your point of impact with the eotech at longer ranges. Learned this the hard way in a sectional match. The class I shoot does not allow for multiple optics, but the Burris PEPR mounts are very nice for the money and has Picatinny for mounting a small red dot above the scope. For the money, this set up works well, but if I were a wealth man, I would have an elcan on my gun.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
Distance precision shooting requires a repeatable cheek weld and that collapsible buttstock is not going to cut it.

This is the colapsible stock that I use. It locks in position so there is no movement at all when locked in. very good for longer ranges and good enough for any use except maybe DCM competition where supreme accuracy matters. with me, 3" at 300 yads is good enough, the DCM guys shoot sub 1" at that range.
    http://www.midwayusa.com/product/19...ttstock-assembly-8-position-collapsible-ar-15

However, Had this stock not came with my Lancer lower, I would most likely be shooting this one.http://www.brownells.com/rifle-part...ocks/ar-15-arfx-skeleton-stock-prod16910.aspx just because it is light cheap and comfortable to shoot.

On my rifle the colapsible stock only aids in getting it in the gun bag I already own. LOL

Arkansas center fire for deer, but 27 cal and below are legal for coyote hunting when deer season is closed, so makes it legal for near year round hog hunting as long as there is a furbearer season open.

Ok. Must be why military is issued M4's with them. I bet they never shot someone accurately(sarcasm). You don't need to hit the same exact spot every time. We are talking about killing something. Lot's of area to shoot.

Ugh, Puke. Plus he wants a cheaper optic. not a $1500 bandwagon.
