The time is rapidly approaching. I'm buttoning up the truck build and finalizing all the necessary maintenance on my tow rig and trailer in preparation for a trip to Primm, NV for the SCORE Terrible's Primm 300 race.

    The what:
It's a 70-75 mile loop course. Fast classes (trophy trucks, class 1 buggies, etc.) do 4 laps, slower classes do 3 laps, and slow classes (7s, class 11, sportsman, etc.) do 2 laps. I'm running Sportsman Truck and only have to deal with 2 laps. As it's my first-ever race, I'm rather pleased about this. Still, it's about 150 miles of punishment.

    The where:
    Primm, NV.

    The when:
    Sept. 8th through the 13th.

I'm leaving NJ Saturday, September 5th in the hopes of arriving at Buffalo Bill's on Tuesday the 8th. The course reconnaissance lap and vehicle tech inspection is on Friday the 11th with the race on the 12th. [EDIT: Looks like no recon lap this year.] I've heard that the race is run in 2 groups but that could be dependent on the number of entrants. I hope there are enough to run 2 groups as I really don't feel like being rear-ended by a trophy truck.

I'll post schedule updates as SCORE makes them known. It's possible that I'll be racing at 6am.

I'll be in the pits spectating when not racing, and when I'm on the course I'll have people in the pits (martie included :)) with my gear to come get me should I suffer catastrophic breakage.

There's an 80's-rocker-themed after party at the Tree Bar Buffalo Bill's Saturday night. :headbang: Judging by comments I've read and pictures I've seen, that should be a really fun time. :)

The details of how everything works is still a mystery to me since this is my first race but I hear the main pits are within walking distance of the casinos. Folks are more than welcome to stop by and hang out in the pits with my team (my family and martie, really ;)) if you're interested. [EDIT: Only have 6 pit passes. I'll have to meet up with folks before/after the race.] I'll have a tent to keep people out of the sun and a cooler full of ice, some beverages (non-alcoholic lest I get disqualified, and you're encouraged to bring extra water/soda as it's damn hot and dry in the desert!), and whatever else my family feels like having during the day. I'll probably bring a hibachi for some quality dust-covered burger-grilling goodness.

Best bet would probably be to park at a casino and walk over. I'm going to try to pit near the Desert Assassins as one of their drivers has been helping me during my build. I imagine they'll be easy to locate. ;)

Anyway, if the schedule works out, I think it'd be cool chance to meet some TW folks. Feel free to swing on by. :)

    -Mike

Don't listen to her. She just doesn't want me getting a sammich.

Deadline is lunchtime tomorrow. Or Wednesday. Or really any day I stand a chance of getting a sammich.

There's a penalty for submitting it late. That'll be one extra sammich, ATTN: martie.

I made him a tuna melt yesterday. That's as close as he's getting to a sammich. I only did it because I felt bad.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Are you sure "felt bad" wasn't just indigestion? Happens to me all the time. I always get my feeling mixed up.

Its especially handy for if/when the Wife throws insults at you. Or Karatie chops......or is laughing at you for glueing your flip flop to your feet......

Well, this whole prepping for the race thing is taking a toll... so I decided to be nice. It probably won't happen again.
