Ahhh. Yes, that makes sense now. :D

People are all over the place about turbos. Some people seem to think that any turbo motor will automatically grenade at like 10K miles. I see that you're not in that camp.

I just think (hope) Toyota can nail it. The power is very appealing.

Agree, Much potential if Toyota does the 2.4 turbo for the Tacoma right. I’m also interested in the 2.4 hybrid development.

So, maybe modern turbos are reliable, but you know what isn’t? The average car owner. Having owned an oil change business in the past , I can say people don’t generally take care of this cars. Gunna be expensive replacing those turbos.

I won’t be having any type turbo in a daily driver, but I wouldn’t be without one on the track, which is really where they belong :D

I believe your choices are eventually going to be a turbo, hybrid, or electric. Enjoy your EV. ;)

Turbos can serve different purposes. If the reliability is there, the incoming turbo 4 is a way better truck engine than the fake Atkinson 3.5. Better than the 4.0, also.

Lol and on every single vehicle that requires a lot of torque like...a truck.
The truth is, it depends on the design and durability. If it's designed right with the right parts, it will last as long as the truck.

If no one ever bought a new model, how would they get to be old? I mean, they'd stop making it after the first few months or weeks lol!

Are you familiar with the product adoption curve? On the curve, I'd consider myself one of the late majority for most automotive purchases. Others aren't and want what no one else has for exclusivity (think Apple product release line ups.)

Ah hum...I see, come to think of it, I own the Apple Eco-system, but not because of exclusivity, but for reliability there too

I've never heard of Scotty Kilmer. That said though, I do not want a four cylinder engine of any kind in a truck of mine. I'd rather have a small V8 but I know that's not going to happen. I suppose I'll trade my 2020 truck for a 2023 and that will be my "forever truck."

You wouldn't want more torque, at lower RPM's, and better potential fuel economy?

I understand if people are concerned about reliability. This is an unknown at this point.

But, if reliability is there, the turbo 4 will be a much better truck engine than the current V6, and the previous V6.
