I wouldn't be surprised if Scotty was on here somewhere since he's a Toyota freak.
I have Apple but only because its easier for work, otherwise I hate those commie NPCs.

So what is the base engine going to be? Is Toyota going to squeeze another generation or two out of the 2.7?

I left Microsoft over 15 yrs ago because I was spending more time making their junk work right, than I did doing my work.
But I hate those commies (Apple) too and looking into Windows 10, as it seems reliable, but now I have issues with Windows 11 so I'm in limbo

2.4L turbo, and hopefully the 3.5l for a couple years. And if so, it'll be my last (3.5l) Taco

Most of the failures I hear about on diesel engines are the turbos themselves.

    There's always Linux!
I work in a school and my Mac Lab recently became a Windows 10 lab. I'm happy so far. I was pissed about my last few gens of Mac desktops having no ability to upgrade ram without removing the screen glass. I honestly do not understand why Windows is so unintuitive for certain functions. It's as if they don't observe how people use a computer, and instead design around how they think people should use the interface. Anyway, im3not a Ford vs. Chevy etc. guy. Everybody seems to hate turbo engines that aren't 8 cylinders in a truck while drinking coffee that was delovered by a turbo 6 cylinder big rig.

Your 2020 Tacoma can also be a “Forever truck”. What’s 3 years when you are talking about forever?

Yes Linux is a viable option, worth looking into.Mac (Apple) got off the beaten path long ago and all they want is to drink blood, my blood.

And I don't have anything against turbo, but I don't need to spend thousands for out of warranty repairs when I can get along fine without it.
I guess I'm just cheap, like Scotty, just wired that way

Can't say I've heard many, if any, related to the turbos. Far more to do with glow plugs, the DEF system, lack of heat, starting issues, excessive fumes, etc.

Sadly, I don't think the next gen will even offer a V6 option from what I've heard. Just turbo 4, hybrid, and I4.

I don't know who told you that or what your experience is but in my field (construction) our fleet diesel trucks rarely have turbo issues. Fuel is more common or computers. We also have a ton of chevy 5.3l and our sister company has ford 3.5l they all make it to 100-120k when the boss decides to trade them in. Very rare for any of our trucks to go down mechanically.

    He likes Ford.

He hates Jaguar - except the ones built by Ford.

He hates Mercedes - except for the one (at least) owned by a customer of his that had no issues when he looked at it.

    Etc.

I'm not sure he has time. It seems like everyone on YouTube makes videos faster than people can watch them.

Well, this is mostly on my uncle's trucks, which are all more than 10 years old now, I believe.

    This much is true
But as you gain experience, you get faster. Unfortunately thought, as you get older you get slower, so it maybe a wash, but your mileage may very, so there's that lol!

Emissions is the reason, look at the highlander. That's why it changed.

Emission is the excuse, not the reason, because you can’t get rid of emissions whenever you’re delivering energy.
The sheer act of making an EV, even hydrogen will be harmful. The making of batteries on the EVs and all it’s components, the re-charging process all pollute.

Even if you could recharge with solar, the process of making solar panels and all the components is polluting. And the sun is not around 24/7 or even daily, it has to be supplemented making the whole idea a pipe dream.

We’re able to mitigate emissions a great deal on an ICE, but there are limits and point of diminishing returns which is where we’re at now. And this useless turbo nonsense is proof of the insane measures and waste.
