    Hi All,

I searched but didn't find anything - hope others have answers

I recently (self-inflicted) several small scratches on the outside of my side mirror housings when installing heated glass. (Stupidly failed to put down a towel to lay the housings on).

The scratches are small & slight...can barely feel them with finger nail - but they're definitely there.

Just shy of replacing the housings (which wouldn't be the end of the world), what can I do to get rid of these scratches?

    Am I S.O.L.?

**Suggestion to those considering D.I.Y. heated glass mod: don't be a dope like me -- put the housings on a towel and not just on your workbench when changing out your glass!

I know how it feels to be kicking yourself for overlooking protecting them with a towel. I did the same type of thing which headlight lenses (long embarrassing story so don't ask lol)...

With your mirror housings its probably only noticeable to you because it's fresh in your mind. My mirror housings look pretty weathered due bugs etc from highway driving.

I wouldn't bother, the mirror casings seem to always get scratched or damaged all the time anyways just by people walking past them and bumping into them over time.

I doubt that anyone else would notice them so I would just leave it as it is, debris will hit the mirror housing and scratch it eventually when you are driving.

If you're really set on fixing the scratches (and assuming you have the black plastic mirror caps), you could try a plastic polish like Meguiar's. I use that for the gauge cluster, since every time I try to clean off dust, it gets little scratches over time.
