    Hey guys need your advice.

My belts we're recently replaced on my '01 Tacoma. W/ 2.7L

The motor starts screeching when I accelerate hard between 55-65mph on the freeway.

But if I'm accelerating soft then I don't hear the screech.

Please note this only occurs during acceleration between 55-65mph.

Is this due to the belts? Or could this be something else?

    - Please advise

If you have an idler pulley, check that also. If you have the belt off, it should have a smooth rolling feel to it. If it get tight, loose then tight, or a little play back and forth, its time for a new one. Maybe $20 bucks or less. They can make the belt noise you are hearing.

Possibly loose engine mount. Motor lifts up on one side. Put the emergency brake on and accelerate with someone watching the engine.

On older vehicles (without a tensioner pulley) a loose fan belt could be thrown outward as the engine is revved and squeal on a nearby part.
You might try a spray bottle with belt dressing/anti squeal, Or water and spray pulleys as the engine is running. Wear safety glasses.

I poured some Dawn liquid dish soap on the squeaking pulley's on my wife's car (engine off) , then ran a low pressure hose on them with the engine running to rinse it off. After about 20 seconds of outrageous squealing, it broke the glaze right off, cleaned the belts and pulley's. It worked better than any spray stuff at the parts store!

Belt squeel is based off rpm and loads put on it from the accessories its running not engine load itself. if it doesn't squeel while reving it up, turning, with ac on then it probably isnt because of the belt.

    Could be many things.

Is it rpm or load related?

    Manual or auto trans?

A video demonstration with good audio would help too.

Last year I paid just over $5 for my bearing. Got it at a motorcycle shop. Pressed the old one out using a short socket and a hammer. Then cleaned the inside of the pulley using some sandpaper and a bit of steel wool. Pressed the new one in using a small bit of oil and a 4" vice. Can't recall the part number offhand.
