I had mine start it off, they actually paid the truck out and then went after the guilty party's insurance for it. However, eventually you do have to directly work with them for pain and suffering, medical, or anything of that nature.

Eh, only if you need to. In my case, the lawyer would have cost more than I'd have ever got out of it. I wasn't out to make money on it, just come out even.

I will let my experience speak for itself. I had a similar accident to the one you pictured and it turned out that my frame was tweaked. So I would definetly have them check it.....if you take it to the dealership they will probably check it for you.

Ok so here it goes, I would recommend that you stop messing around and just take it to the Toyota Dealership that has a body shop most dealerships that have one will also have someone who handles the insurance. Drop off your truck get a rental and pay your decutible ($250 or $500) and call it a day. I think you mentioned that you wanted to see if you could get an aftermarket bumper......I will tell you this the stock bumper will cost around $1000 for all parts, labor, and since your's is a sport.......paint. Mine was a chrome bumper and it was around $800 I asked the body shop manager (at Toyota of Dallas) if I could have an aftermarket bumper that their internet parts department sold and would pay the difference. They acted like they needed to jump through hoops but in the end I got what I wanted and they paid me $14 bucks because it was actually cheaper than the stock bumper. Keep in mind that if you take it to a Toyota Dealership, they will use OEM parts and if they mess anything else up well they have a parts department that simple.

Accident number 2, we had some crazy ass hail in Dallas the size of baseballs and it fucked up my truck. My mistake in this deal was that I got a check for $3800 to fix my truck, gave it to the wife. She gave me $700 bucks to get my entire truck fixed and to date I have only fixed my front hood. Moral of this story is.......if you have a wife and you get a check don't let her know about it because she will find a way to spend it. I should have taken it to Toyota of Dallas and paid my $200 deductible and had my truck fixed right. Now who knows when I'll ever fix it.

I appreciate all the responses. I will be calling my local Toyota dealer in the AM to explore my loaner car options if I bring them the truck. I believe they have a body shop.

You have to love your dealer's service center being open on Sunday 9-2. They have a body shop and were willing to give me a loaner car to get me to and from work tomorrow. Now I just have to wait until my insurance company calls me tomorrow.

I'm 100% fine. I can only be so angry that my truck is mangled since no one was injured. I'm not even sore and my girlfriend is also 100% okay.

Guess What? CARFAX's wonderful marketing just made your truck worth 1000 to 2000 less than one with a clean Carfax! Just go ask a Dealer (other than the one that has the bodyshop!) Work the insurance company for the "Carfax depreciation" they will know what you are talking about! Get an Appraisal from a Dealer if you need too!

STAY AWAY FROM MOST BODY SHOPS THE DEALER "RECOMMENDS!!!!!, " unless you do your due dilligence and make sure that the shop is good and legit.

The body shops pay thousands of dollars monthly to the dealerships for the "referrals," trust me, I worked in the business for 5+ years. Check around, i.e. the web, yelp, etc......
You can definitely get an am rear bumper, it's not something you need to tell your insurance company, just coordinate with the body shop the ordering, shipping, etc. The body shop might not be too keen on it though, unless they can get the bumper for cheaper than list price.
The other company will/should reimburse your for any oop expenses, i.e. car rental or any child seats in the vehicle.
Looks like probaby about $3 to $4k in damage, i'm guessing.
GLWR dude, hit me up if you have any questions, like I said, I was in the business for 5+ years

In reality, your truck would have gotten messed up no matter which bumper you equipped it with.

NJM insurance is excellent to work with, especially since the other driver was ticketed. I highly recommend South Jersey Auto Body in egg harbor city N.J. They are a direct repair service for NJM and their work is excellent. They have repaired my 2003 tacoma twice when I was hit by drunk drivers!

Thank you for your information. The dealership has a collision center on site. I assume you mean in the event they didn't they'd recommend a body shop to use, correct?

Egg harbor is over an hour from me. I will see what NJM suggests more locally.

Yes, I will wait to here from NJM tomorrow to start getting this all sorted out.
