No issues with the head unit on my 2020 here, I took delivery in November and have put just over 5000km on it. Good luck with your issue OP, hope it gets resolved painlessly. FWIW, I had a warranty related issue with another vehicle in the past, and when the dealership was unable to "reproduce" the issue I eventually got them to cover the repair under warranty by providing a video of the issue taken with my phone. Couldn't hurt to try that route, maybe they'll throw you a bone.

The whole dash won't have to be replaced, just your head unit.

Do people forget they have warranties?

We seem to get a lot of threads of “hey, this broke, is this common.”

I’m like go get it fixed, why does it matter if it happened to someone else..

My Sonata from a few years back had the dash go out and make an odd noise. I pulled over and restarted and was never able to replicate it lol. Electronics are weird.

I just wanted to know. My GLI had issues from day one and the fourms ended up helping me get it bought back from Volkswagen. Having proof of it being an issue was a big help

Taking it to the dealer creates the documentation and paper trail.

Cold caused mine. Ended up getting rid of my tacoma. Clutch died and toyota bent me over. I took my truck back and drove right to a ram dealership and bought a 2021 limited 1500 with the eco diesel.

Cluster replacement. Will sit in the shop for a while as the new reprogrammed cluster with correct odo mileage is ordered.
    Enjoy the loaner.

There are several that have had it happen and a few other threads on this site. Can't speak for everyone, but mine looked exactly like the pic the OP posted. I had about 1100 miles on it when it happened in April. I drove home, turned my truck off and back on and it was back to normal. I have not had it happen since after 10k more mile. I don't think weather was an issue for me.

because people want to know if it is a systematic issue that has a high likelihood of reoccurring?

I made it to 14k miles without it happening again. But it was very cold out the first time it happened and I sold it as it started getting cold.

Also want to say warranty means nothing to toyota good luck with that. You can ignore me but I am still salty about what happened with my Warranty work.

If my crappy Entune dies out of warranty, I am going aftermarket.

You are going to regret that purchase. I came from a 19 Ram. Awesome in every aspect but the MANY quirks are well documented on the Ram forums. If there is one thing I know about Ram, they never fix their quirks by evidence of my prior 14 Ram and the same online complaints of the 2015 thru 2018 and their complaints of service.

When your rear brakes start to howl in reverse in the morning, get use to it. They’ll try to fix it for you with a bolt hack but it will be back. When you start hearing a bird chirp every time you hit a bump, that is the anti-rattle clips on the front brakes. A little grease will fix it for a thousand miles. They’ll even try to fix it for you 3 times with grease, calipers and then rotors before they tell you there is nothing left they can do but rest assured, your truck will sound like a 70 Chevy.

Get use to the backup camera and infotainment unit sporadically not working. A quick cycle of the ignition will get you working. Try proving that one at the dealership. Hint, use your phone to record it. Not that it’s actually going to help.

Hopefully you don’t get the dreaded wheel won’t return to center when you’re on a curve doing 60, that one will scare the heck out of ya. I do believe they may have figured that one out by now with a new steering rack though.

That upper glove box light will annoy you because the lid in short time will not close all the way. That whistling noise you can’t figure out where it’s coming from, that’s the passenger side air vent, get use to hitting the fresh air / recirc button so that the internal flap fully closes to make the whistling go away.

Sorry, I’m not one of those internet haters because someone left the brand. I will most likely be leaving Tacoma myself after my lease is up as I just want something with a more luxurious ride. I’m use to full size pickups and miss that ride quality. But Ram, oh hell no! I’d buy a 10 year used frontier before I ever thought about buying a Ram again.

Sounds a lot like my 15 300C. 7 recalls! Also was on the 3rd back up cam. Terrible dash rattle that could never be fixed. Dealers were bad. Warranty was coming to and end so I dumped that car pronto. I wouldn't touch another FCA product now.

Thanks for the heads up hopefully I won't need the tips! I have 0 brand loyalty now honestly willing to hear anyone's input especially if they took the time to type it out.

I have read lots of crazy issues on the forums and I expect it to haunt me one day haha. Dreading the air suspension issues. As of now this truck has made it longer than my tacoma without issue and I hope it continues that way.

I only have one small frequency rattle in the driver A piller and its not bad at all. It really came down to interior for me. I fell in love with the tan and indigo leather and the tech of the limited. If I had to pick another truck I wouldn't. I would sell my trailer and tractor and go back to sports cars.

I miss my tacoma and manual transmission. In the end it wasn't worth the cost I paid for in hops of reliability, also the backseat didn't have much carseat room. Thats my fault for not thinking ahead.

What trim level did you have? I was told by someone not a credible source that limited models are built on a separate assembly line to ensure quality. Sounds like a load to me

Big Horn Off Road Level 2. I wish you all the luck with it. I doubt they’re a separate line, tooling a line for one trim would probably cost a manufacture $500m and we all know they don’t do that, they’re in the business of making money. Just visit the 5thgenram forum and get familiar with the problems and solutions. Being “armed” with knowledge before you walk into service will help ease the frustration.
