To add on to the above.

JIS drivers work on Phillips heads.

Phillips drivers DO NOT work on JIS heads.

So JIS has a lot more use then just on a vehicle. And they don't strip out Phillips heads, which Phillips drivers strip out Phillips heads as that is what the Phillips bits are designed to do to limit torque input.

Not to say that JIS will save you from a rusty seized Phillips screw, but it is less likely to leave you needing a left hand drill bit.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410

That's right. Phillips will make a mess out of your screws.

They heard about seat spacers, trying to retain their crash rating.

It actually was for a seat lowering kit. I don't need to pad my chair with phone books to sit at the big table.

JIS for screws like the fuel door clip and fog lights.

Medium flat blade screwdriver with thin shank for general prying and brake shoe adjustment. Also good for wheel hub dust cap removal (not applicable to 4x2).

Pocket flat blade screwdriver for general prying (oil filter cap O-ring, oil drain plug gasket, electrical connectors and bulb sockets).

Pocket Philips or JIS screwdriver for small electronic parts e.g. MAF sensor removal

TW keeps costing me money. First I’m out $3.99 for the LH screw driver, now it’s the Japanese screw drivers! When will it end?
