A true repair will use a patch plug combo as pictured in this thread. The issue with a plug is you have no idea what damage accured with in the tire which can lead to a blow out down the road. The tire needs to be broken down and inspected to insure no damage was done to the inner liner. A true repair will seal the injury as well as the inner liner which is why the patch plug combo is ideal.

Here's what can happen when a repair is done incorrectly.

Plug and patch as per Tripps2012's post is the proper way. The patch seals the air in, the plug is soft rubber that seals the carcass against water and dirt. Procedure is to locate leak, mark, mark location of valve stem and any balance weight on the side wall of the tire, dismount the tire, probe hole to make sure everything is out of the puncture and determine the entry angle, clean a large area on the inner tir around the puncture with the proper cleaner, a plug is inserted from the outside in following the entry angle with a liberal amount of "glue",the excess plug is snipped off at both ends, the inside buffed to flush out the plug and provide a clean and rough surface, glue applied and allowed to dry, care needs to be taken buffing as the inner liners are not very thick and buffing into the cords is not a good thing, the patch is applied centered on hole and rolled with serrated wheel tool thingy taking care that the edges of the patch are well adhered, tire is mounted aligning stem with side wall mark, original location of balance weights is verified, inflated, repair checked, marks on side wall removed.

Slow day, crappy weather, BluTaco has emptied my farkles account.

    That sounds wrong, haha. :D
No, he left the bolt there and it's been fine. Because the bolt was so big, he didn't want to take it out.

Btw, I like your avatar pic, Tripps2012. :D
