I like the cat idea. But be warned, cats will sometimes get in the engine and ride around with you. We were at a kids christmas party(about 15 miles from our house) a few years ago and my daughter is playing outside with this cat that looks just like ours. Sure enough its ours. Had a grease stain on its nose and everything. Just glad the damn thing didn't get caught in the serpentine belt...

Well 95% of synthetic on the market isn't it is dino based oil and looks exactly like regular oil so all of these people have removed a sample and sent it to a lab? Some how I don't think they would get away with that very long.

I would consider this as a possibility, as I have seen it on more than one occasion. We replaced an engine harness on a customer's S-10 pickup because mice had chewed through a large portion of the harness. The very next day after he picked it up the customer called complaining about a check engine light. When we had it towed in the brand new harness had already been chewed into. Now yes, it is possible that the tech didn't replace that harness, but VERY improbable. Look at it from a logic standpoint. If he didn't replace it, then he KNOWS it would be found out, and he would get fired. So why? There is no logical reason at all for him not to replace it. Is it possible that another harness was chewed as well, and THAT harness was replaced? There are a lot of questions that we can't get answered until the OP gets the truck back into the dealership.

This would be a good idea. In some cases when we do insurance claims, we retain the old parts for 90 days just in case there are questions.

That is not true. And in many cases there is a cost ratio that is ran to verify which route is best. When it comes specifically to wiring harnesses, the cost of repair can quickly exceed the cost of replacement. not to mention that a repaired harness is a potential for future problems, and issues. Any time a repair in a wiring harness is made, you have added a potential spot for corrosion in the future, as well as heat and vibration causing bad connections. As for your comment on quotas, I have NEVER worked at an independent shop or dealership that had any form of quota whatsoever. You can make all the claims you want, but where is your proof of this?

Again I ask, when it comes to the service department, as this thread is talking about, where is your prof of sales quotas? They don't exist in the service department. Retail, yes. But the service department is NOT a retail division, it is classified as service. Two totally different areas.
And you are wrong about what a sales goal and a quota are. A quota is a minimum requirement of sales to retain your job. A company with a quota will tell you that if you do not make your quota 3 weeks in a row, you lose your job. A sales GOAL however is a preset goal based on the individual's sales last year at that time, and take into account growing sales markets and trends. Your job is not on the line for a sales goal. So they are two totally different things. Years ago I had worked at two different jobs, one having a goal, and one having a quota. The work environments were totally different as well. Coworkers wouldn't cut your throat or steal customers when all we had were sales goals.
