Has anyone done this? Was at a mountain biking fest and saw many put Yakima landing pads w/ towers for rear bars to load items on top of (bikes, cargo box, etc)... but have yet to have a conversation with anyone around it. I know the weight capacity of the stock OEM tri-fold tonneau isn't great, but it could be a cheap solution (and easy to unclip the towers & bars) while keeping the tonneau on. Throwing it out there!

To the plastic cover? I wouldn't trust my bikes up there.

yes - through the cover & securing below with a wing nut. sounds shanty, but the setups i saw with the landing pad / tower systems looked strong

i would imagine as long as you ran stainless steel hardware, fender washers (for larger displacement) and a nyloc nut and sealed everything with silicone you would be all good! or you can do KB VooDoo bars!!

i thought so as well! i already have the yakima hardware already, thats the problem. i like the KB models - but the tower system they have (the taller one) isnt compatible with Yakima since the length is too much for the clip mechanisms of my gear (MTB, cargo box & RTT)
