I am really wanting these F5's and it looks like I will be either the first to buy, or first to post pics of, silver gen 1 with the Matte Gun metal. My question is this. I have been searching and have narrowed down to Grabber AT2 ($300 cheaper than AT KO's) tire size 255/70/16. General's website says they recommend up to 8.5" rim size and I know the F5'5 are an 8". Will only having a .5" to play with in this tire size effect me in anyway if I were to ever air down? .5" seems pretty tight to me but I'm not expert on this by any means. Any help?

I believe the 8.5" is the max wheel width for that tire. You will be fine with an 8" wheel. A narrower wheel helps keep the tire on the bead when aired down and also protects the wheel from damage by being tucked inside the tire, but I think too narrow a wheel can cause tire wear issues on the street. I am no expert either though.

on an 8.5 inch wide rim you shoud be able to fit up to a 315 or wider, i know on my stock taco rims which are 16x7 i will be putting 285s and have heard of peple putting 305's. So to answer your question 8.5 will easily fit 255 up to and possibly over 315! BTW why noy 255/85/16 or 285/75/16? 255/70 is pretty small !

Well, right now I'm running 285/70/17 and yes I have thought of staying with the "big tire" look. I'm mainly over the rubbing I get at flex due to the tire size. 255/85's are taller than my current setup and I was considering this but again...tired of the rubbing when flexed. I want something that looks good and at the same time is functional. My job requires me to be at work no matter what the road conditions are so I need to lean a bit more on the functional. Plus...smaller = cheaper.

Not so much for daily driving. I did remove the front mudflaps and the baby front/front flaps as there was minimal rubbing at full lock.

I haven't put on my OME lift yet. We'll see how that goes if I ever have to stuff the tires :) Also, the tires are 265/75/16's and my driveway has quite a bit of downward slope (nose down if you will).

I still really like the look of these F-5's! It was these or what made it on my truck. Who knows maybe i'll have F-5's some day ;)

@ CaliAsh, What size duratracs are those? I only ask since the F-5 has the same specs as my current wheels and I'm running 265 75 16r. My only rub with my 265 was on the mini front flap which is now off.

@jberry 813, Hell of a nice truck! Beaut.

Updated my post with tire size. Same as yours. I haven't installed my OME lift kit yet (should be around 2 - 2.5in of lift once installed) so take that into consideration :)

^ gotcha. yea you'll be fine with just those front flaps gone. I'm at just a bit over 2 in the front.
