I have a 2014 Tacoma DBL cab sport. Currently have Bilstein 6112 2.5" lift up front and a 1.5" AAL in the rear. Current tire size BFG KO2 265/70/17. I really like the look of the 17x9 -38 offset but am afraid of too much rub. I'd also like to go with a larger tire (taller). Anyone have advice if these will fit my current setup with minimal modification? With both the 17x8.5 and 17x9 being available tomorrow, I'd like to get some feedback before I order. Thanks!

If you go 17x9 you will need to go with a wider tire also.

(Old set up) I had both ray 10s. 17x8.5 with 285s with 1.25 spacers/kings/CMC=No rub
(New set up) 17x9 ray 10s with 295s same lift and no spacers=no rub.

It all depends on how well they do your alignment also. I’m Just giving you an idea with different tire sizes, etc.

Def at least a 275. I have a buddy running them. I had the OG Ray10's with 285/70/17 with and without 1" spacers and it was nice just need the right amount of castor and/or enough CMC done. As noted above by @KrnTaco08 but with 3rd gen you also have some more room. Once you start going 295 up you will def need a pretty aggressive CMC. I just installed 315/70/17 and I will need to redo the CMC and I also cut the fenders for good measure. The new setup is way wider than than 285's with spacers on the OG setup. Keep that in mind the bigger wider tire will be much wider in actuality. If you go 275/285 it won't be too bad. Ill try to post pictures of both as I just swapped them.

    I was thinking of a narrower 255

I would go with the regular version then. Since it’s a 8.5 wheel vs 9. The -10 offset say in the 17 is a good stance. It’s not super wide but it’s nice. I never had a 255 here are some various States/versions of reg Ray vs wider Ray I have had . The new version is pretty wide.

Current with the new Ray10 17x9” but with 315/70/17 KM3’s

I have the 17 x 8.5 with the -10 offset with 305/65/17 and I don't think I would want it to stick out any farther, it would probably rub the mount.

Whatd you end up going with? I have 17x9 -38s sitting in my living room and wondering if I should try to trade them with some 16s with less aggressive offset

Went with 17x8.5. Initially installed with my 3/4" spacers. Serious rubbing, I have removed spacers and very little rub, full lock in reverse.
