Interested, but I'm running the standard 17 x 7.5 30mm offset bs3.9 (machined aluminum 4 runner wheels.) Looking at adding 255/80 tires to replace my 285/70s. With the 9 wide does that mean I would have to rethink the 255/80s?

Found this thread from 5 years ago from vin. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/255-80-17-on-9in-rim.262005/
    I wouldn’t go that skinny of a tire on a 17x9 wheel.

Wow dude.. That looks great!  Nice to see more QS trucks in here.

Gives me hope that the brushed copper wheels will look good on my quicksand. I was still unsure how it will end up.

I saw that earlier. It's what I figured. :( I have a set of wheels with 285s now so I am looking to replace them with thinner wheels for the spring - fall season. I prefer the 285s on winter roads where ice is more of an issue.

I'm pretty sure we'll do another run of them sometime this year, but first thing first, we're going to try our matte dark bronze with a machined lip this spring.

Always follow the tire manufacture's recommended specs.

My first message on this forum. I managed to hit the lottery and ordered a set of 17 inch RAY10s. Now today I sat here and read all 170 pages of this post and am second guessing myself on if I should of went with 16s instead. Ignorance is bliss sometimes. I should have stuck with watching cat videos on youtube.

Why worried about the 16? 17" way to go in my opinion

I was starting to convince myself that maybe I should have stuck with original tire sizes to avoid all this rubbing nonsense

What tire you get? Tacomas come with 17" too depending on your package. Wheel size doesn't matter as far as rubbing, it's the tire itself.

My plan was to get cooper discoverer stt pro 265/70R17 I am pretty sure they will rub, but I will deal with it.
And they are matte jet black, and not for sale lol I will suffer with them, wouldn't want to subject anybody to these same hardships.

I'm on 35s on 3in lift. I know what rubbing is lol. They will look good. When I first got my ray10s I had bought 2670r17 bfg ko2's and they barely rubbed. Its only plastic which can be trimmed.

What @90yota said. I run 265/70r17s on my Sport and the rub is so minor it doesn't even make a mark on the tires. I could mild offroad too if I wanted to. I am planning on a lift however some day. As it stands, no regrets.

I went to SCS today and picked up my Ray 10’s. Fun to see their place, the hundreds of rims stacked up to be shipped, they just unloaded them from the truck. The guys are super cool and talked to the guy that designed the Ray 10’s and let him know I think they have a chance of being popular....

They look good and go on tomorrow!9C1D2330-F794-4775-A4CD-C924FCFB4000.jpg D23C1A00-576C-441D-BC41-B51D4E49FF20.jpg
