So I'm pretty much sold on getting some 17" Matte Gunmetal Ray10s for my black 3rd gen DCSB, but I'm now having a rough time deciding whether to get them with the machined lip or not. I know it might be a while until they're available again, but I'd like to have this decided before they are.

For you folks running Ray10s on your black rigs, would you mind posting up some pics to help a fella out?

Pics of other color Ray10s are welcome here too, if something else looks better on black rigs I'm certainly open to ideas!

ETA: I found one pic, if someone wouldn't mind doing a quick photoshop with a silver ring instead of black that would be really helpful as well.

I was pretty much convinced on the regular black rim, but then I realized that the machined lip Ray10s look a LOT like the Tacoma TRD faux beadlocks, which I also like quite a bit. I need a 17" wheel though as I like the better tire selection you can get with those.

Yeah, they kinda do look like the TRD beadlocks at a quick glance.

Plenty of tires out there for you to choose. 16s won’t be bad either if you want “meatier” tires

I'm currently running 265/70/16 KO2s on my stock 16" wheels, and they are HEAVY bastards. You can only get E-rated tires in those, and they're over 50# each.

On a 17" wheel, 265/70/17 KO2s are actually lighter weight for a larger tire. Tires and wheels combined weigh roughly the same when my current 16" setup is compared to the Ray10s with C-rated KO2s.

That point may be a bit moot, as I'm seriously considering switching to Falken Wildpeaks at some point.

Boy do I have questions for you!

What kind of performance difference are you experiencing with the 285s compared to stock? I'm battling the urge to go that big because I do offroad, and I'm concerned that the gearing won't "feel right". Larger tires mean less torque getting to the ground, but is it enough to really make that much of a difference?

My 2016 has the AT too, and I feel like I have plenty of power now, but how much would the larger tires really change that?

I have slightly more lift than the pic I posted (just over 2.5" on Icons), I also have SPC UCAs with my caster set at 3.6 IIRC, so fit shouldn't be an issue at all.

Tell me your story man, I'm all ears!
