I considered the 255/80's, but like the stance of the 285/70's better. Plus having already bought the tires not willing to give up$280 restocking fee to send back on my dime

I'm prepared to do whatever, just seems some members state no rubbing issues at all.

I have some 885's coming tomorrow, have to pull the coilovers off and have the longer studs put on for the 10mm spacer, figured it's as good of time as any to switch the springs. Going to have to put the AAL and rear shocks on as well to negate the anticipated bro lean.

Jeff is correct. Be prepared to do the CMC with 285s. Once it's done , you'll never have to worry about it again until you decide to go bigger;).

I'll talk to my welder tomorrow, see when he can do it and schedule my tire mounting according to that.

Was hoping, with some people saying they didn't have to, having an extra degree of positive caster would help.

Heck, for all I know I'll lose that when I get the 885's and top spacer on.

If I go bigger it won't be just tires, it will be truck and all lol

Yes but again, no amount of lift will get rid of rubbing. Sooner or later you're going to stuff that tire and thats when you'll rub some stuff hard. Because remember, even though lift, thats not changing the tire travel, its just putting the tire farther down in the travel cycle. So whether its on road or offroad, when you stuff that tire, pray its at low speed and you can hear it clearly and find out where its rubbing. Hit a dip to hard on the highway at 65 withouy clearancing anything and see how many things fall off behind you  ask me how I know. I was on the "nah itll be fine, I dont need to do that because it doesnt rub when Im sitting still" side for a long time.

Just trying to help out everyone here. The people saying they fit a 285 tire in there without rub havent stuffed their tire yet then, I guarantee it!

Ugh, starting to get nervous now lol.

Last thing I want to do is fuck something up. Guess I just didn't research enough. Kept seeing minimal trimming and CMC. But, now I'm thinking if these wheels stick out 2.2" further than stock plus the extra width of the tire I might be getting in over my head.

You'll be good man!! The CMC is the main one. Once you do that, you can do the other stuff as necessary.

The best way to do it is to take out your coilover and use a jack under the LCA to raise the tire. Once you do that, you can see where you rub. Then just trim as necessary! At the very most you'll do CMC, beat the pinch weld, and trim plastic.

My fear is fender modification or having to take the flares off. You think they will still tuck up into the inside of the fender?

Oh for sure. Only people I see doing that have 35s. If you really have to, you can get different bump stops and limit up travel but I don't foresee that being an issue. Don't stress! I'm about to make the jump to 285s as well so we can do this together

Nah, don't be nervous. Just commit to it and get balls deep. Think of how good it'll look and how much better it'll perform!

So, heres the deal, you're probably fine with your fender flares, but if you want to truly be safe put a spacer on your bump to limit the uptravel. I dont really think thats needed, but Ill say thos much, my first time offroad in my 4x4, I had 265/70/17 mud terrains on, went over a bump in a trail to fast, and turned at the same time and then my buddu came up behind me with my inner fender plastics that had ripped out lol. Granted, I hit the dip after the bump HARD, and that was with stock rims on. In your case you are bumping the tire out a bit more, so CMC and pinch weld are probably a must. Youll probably just your inner fender plastic at full stuff, and depending on how you flex out each tire depends on damaging the fender flare. Offroad your tires will tuck at low speed, but if you plan on catching some speed I recommend as well what was said above about pulling your coilover out and cycling the suspension to see where the tire will come in to contact with anything.

Dont return your tires lol, 285s are great! Anytime you change anything on the truck from OEM to aftermarket theres always gonna be pro's and con's. Weve listed the cons, but they are all things that can be fixed, and then the pro's outweight the cons immensly.

Plus, these rims are just downright awesome, so that outweighs it all

They seriously are. They're under my TV so I've been staring at them for weeks waiting for labor day to order tires. I can't wait!

Had to wait until I got it detailed before posting the pics. Couldn't let a dirty truck ruin the rims image.

Thanks again Vin! Have to figure out how to mount up my spare when it gets here.

Hey guy I hope you can answer this quick so I can order my SR8 wheels. Do I need new lugs for the wheels? I currently have the 4Runner limited 20"wheels and am wondering it I could use those lugs. If not what lugs do I get with the SR8's?

My set came with 24 splined lug nuts and a tool/socket for them.

They have to be pretty slim lugnuts, but cannot give you exacts.

Do you know which lugs you got? They have two different ones with the specs we need. But the side that goes against the wheel is different on each one.

I got the extended lug lugnuts and I'm glad I did. Just grabs those extra few mm for that peace of mind.
