My truck in the middle is on 35x10.50x17’s and they’re .5-.75” taller than his. I’d say stick to the 17x8.5 if you buy SCS’s.

What if I run 265/70/17 or 275/65/17 tires with the 17x9? Would I still need to do major trimming and CMC?

@SoCalTacoTruck why do you recommend I stick with with 17x8.5?

    I think a 265/70 would look too stretched on a 17x9.

-38 is a lot more work to fit than the -10. The -10 will also cause less stress on suspension components and overall front end geometry.

About to do the exact same setup. Did you have to remove the mud flaps? Wondering if it will rub. Also, do the wheels look "stretched" in person since they're sitting on a 8.5" width? Thanks!

I have never had mud flaps, but I’m pretty sure you will rub if you run OEM flaps w/ these wheels and a 265 tire. Just going off everything I have read here.

Tires do not looked stretched at all, perfect fit IMO. I had these same tires on my OEM TRD 4Runner Pro wheels that are 7” wide and they looked odd being on a narrow rim. Look and ride better on these 8.5s.

I personally don’t like -38. Way too much offset, puts additional stress on bearings, messes with bump steer...I try to stay as close to flush with the fender I can.

The most I had was -25 offset just to clear my UCA’s with 315/75/16’s. The 17x8.5 looks better, handles better, and is the perfect size.

Did you decide what type of room to go with?

I ended up going with the SCS wheels 17 x 8.5 in brushed copper. I just picked them up yesterday.

I'm going to run 275/70/17 BFG K02 and a CMC to be sure I have no rubbing.

Very nice! What color truck? Those copper look clean. Did you order them from the SCS website? Also who is installing your lift? I believe if you do 275’s you won’t rub but 285 I’ve seen people not rub and some do. I could be wrong but that’s what I’ve read.

Super white truck and I installed the lift myself. I'm still tinkering with it. Once I have it all dialed in, I'll slap my wheels on.

Yup got them from SCS when they went on sale a few days back. I really wanted the brushed gold but didn't want to wait anymore.
