Lol that'll be pretty impossible. I'm planning for Moab in the l late fall and AZRocks next March.

It's a possibility. After I get shocks and a steering stabilizer I think I'll be a lot better off.

    It's all good.

I think he meant that in the sense that project vehicles are never really "finished". They're always evolving and changing. And he's right, in my case.

So am I! I haven't wheeled it in almost 6 months! I haven't taken that long of a hiatus from wheeling since before I started wheeling!

    More pics.

In this first one I'm loaded down with all the old IFS, the front bumper, fab gear, etc. The rear was sagging a little bit.

Just ordered a set of ford shock towers. They should fit nicely in there.

Should be able to pick up some drive shaft material tomorrow.

Got the truck aligned today. I knew it looked funky. I thought I set the toe at 1/8" in but the tech said it was toed out. I think my "floating" Tacoma rotors threw off the measurements some. After the alignment I got it up to 70 with no death wobble and a lot less wandering. The only vibe present is from my rear drive shaft due to a worn slip yoke. The vibe was present before the swap, though.

And before anyone says anything, I have a full tank of gas. My gauge is broken.

It looks like I went from a leaky piece of crap rack and pinion to a leaky less crappy gear box. It's leaking from the sector shaft. I will get with rock auto soon and see what they will do. These boxes aren't exactly plentiful so if they don't have another one to ship me ASAP I'll have them send me the sector shaft seal and tackle that myself. I've been told these boxes are a lot easier to rebuild than a Toyota box and that they don't need lots of special tools.
    We'll see.
No ETA on my tracking info for the shock towers from low range, but I'm expecting them Monday or tuesday.
This Friday or Saturday I'll pick up some square tube for the front driveshaft. I'm going cheap until I can afford a Woody or High Angle. Looks like Sunday I should be able to get the driveshaft done, install the half moon plates and felts behind the knuckle (yes, they're not on right now), get the steering stops and knuckle gussets done. Would be great if I could get the shocks done Sunday also, but I'm not stressing it.
I've got 1 week until a trip to K2. Going to be tight but I'll make it happen.

the body of my truck will more than likley end up looking like yours by the time i start to actually consider putting the coveted solid axle under it.

JW how often did you bust cvs while wheeling? Tie rod ends?

For the first 2 years on 35's I never busted a CV. After that it seemed like I busted one every trip, at least. I probably broke 12-15 CV's between February 2012 and December 2013. I broke 3 in 100 yards on the same trail, once. I've never busted a TRE. I've seen one pretzel, though. But Igor is tough on his junk.

Damn that went together fast! I should have done leaf springs on the front of my truck, I would be driving it already.

Thanks. I've gotten plenty of congratulations from my close friends about how quickly I made this happen. I knew it was going to be a right schedule but I've proved a lot of guys wrong who said "you can't do it in a weekend."

I've also got another friend who is putting links on his truck and has been doing the build for about 9 months. He also said he wish he went leaf springs.

In the end, though, the links will be much more badass.
If I had another vehicle I might have tried to go links.
This is my only truck. My DD. My everything. I had to have it back on the road ASAP and that's why I went the route I did.
