Any idea how to remove scuff marks? I’m certain it’s messed up the clear coat as I cannot scrape it off by finger.

It looks a lot like paint transfer

Start off with claybar. Buffing it with compound should work if claybar doesnt

I’d remove scuff marks like these with some undiluted paint thinner. Scrub gently with a microfiber, then rinse the entire tailgate and wax it.

Stop by your local parts store and grab some Mcguire’s Ultimate Compound. Should be a black bottle.

it’s a liquid compound (more aggressive then polish) and works decently well when done by hand.

Put it on the corner of a towel and polish the area. You can save the rest of the bottle for touching up the door handle area later in life.

that likely won’t go away completely but the compound will reduce it to the point where you have to look for it

I agree with starting with clay bar. I love the griots garage paint cleaning clay
