Don't see how Seafoam in the fuel tank nor injector cleaner will do anything for the throttle body!!! Am I missing something? And OP yes spray it in, with eng. running, it will get sucked thru, just as if pouring it in... Just my opinion.

No, everyone else is missing the obvious. Only air goes through the throttle body. They do need cleaning though. I do mine every 90K. Seems to be about right. I clean the MAF every 30K because it's quick and easy.

I’ve been using Jectron for a few years. It and the one made by redline are the only ones I’ve noticed that actually makes a difference in improving how the engine runs

In my old el camino, it wasn’t running bad but I’d put Jectron in, drive it up a miles long uphill road. Then floor it as I’d approach the top. It made a huge difference, as if I replaced the engine.

I think the point is to do routine maintenance.

Your right, Putting it in the gas tank isn't going to clean the throttle body. That isn't what it is for.

Remove the throttle body and clean it manually using the spray seafoam or maybe even throttle body cleaner. Crazy I know right.

    I’m with Jimmy.
If you are so inclined to use a “cleaner” the ones you pour in the gas tank will “probably” be better.

I say this because, the cleaner will go though the entire fuel system.
Then will be inject into the intake and onto/around the valves, where it will then enter the combustion chamber.

Personally, I would pull the the throttle body IF I had a reason.
And probably wouldn’t bother with a fuel system cleaner.

You might even do the 1GR some good if you ran it a bit hard from time to time.
I believe the 1GR uses the ACIS intake. Not sure when the “butterflies” open.
But it’s usually active in the upper RPM range.
Maybe @Torspd know, I have always been curious?

Using a spray bottle filled with water will clean carbon more effectively

In other vehicles I've used it on, I've always put it in via vacuum lines that feeds directly into the intake manifold, post-TB, then dumped the rest in the gas tank. Works pretty well.

Ya'll haven't read the "FIRST" post in the thread. He is NOT asking about cleaning anything to do with the fuel system, he is asking about the "AIR" system. The throttle body is for the intake of AIR, nothing to do with the fuel system. Nothing you put in the fuel tank will ever get close to the throttle body, fuel is delivered downstream of the throttle body. Years ago, 1980's, there were throttle body injection systems where the fuel was injected into the throttle body, but that was years ago.... As always, just my opinion.

We know. We do know how to read.

You are correct it is an Air System, why spray a liquid into it.

Same reason I spray Windex on a window, or carburetor cleaner into a carburetor, to clean it.

    I don't use Windex.

Just a bit of soap and water with a squeegee to clean windows.

Squeegee won't fit into a throttle body. Try a little Seafoam on your windows, I'll bet it will works wonders

Yeah....I had to seriously trim the squeegee to fit. Its tight, but we all know tight is good.

I have read that Seaform was originally formulated for 2 stroke marine outboard motors. Not something I would want to run through my engine.

I use sea foam in both of my Toyota’s. I run some in the crankcase a few days before and oil change and it works great. I’ve confirmed by removing the valve cover(s). My 80series has 330k and the top end looks super clean.

I also run it through the vacuum lines on the 80. It cleared out a CEL that kept reoccurring. I think of used properly it’s a good product.

That's like saying ide never run Lucas cause they make 2 stroke motor oil.

you know theres different formulas for different applications right.
