    The ABC's of Seafoam

Just before your next regular oil change, buy two cans of the Sea Foam additive. (WalMart, $8-$9 each)

    A) One fuel fill-up before your oil change, add one whole can of Sea Foam to the gas tank. Drive the truck until the tank is 1/2 empty.

    B) When the tank is 1/2 empty, pour 1/2 of the second can in the engine oil-fill. Drive until the Gas Fill Warning Light comes on. (Or to almost totally empty).

    C) One early Saturday, when your neighbors are sleeping, back your car out of the garage positioning the tailpipe in the grass or street. Let the engine idle until it warms up to normal operating temperatures. Shut the engine off. Pull the brake booster vacuum hose off the booster or the PCV Hose and put a small funnel in it. Restart the engine keeping the hole plugged in the funnel. Rev the engine and pour the last 1/2 of the second can into the hose so it sucks into the intake maniflold as quickly as possible without stalling the engine totally out. Then shut the engine off and let sit for 15-20 minutes.

    Get in, and buckle up.

Start the engine and get it running. Drive the car with moderate pedal acceleration up your street. Look in your rear view mirror for the smoke screen you are leaving behind. This is the carbon build-up coming out of the engine/catalyst. The smoke can be really heavy so keep moving so you can see! Also, this is why you do it in the morning. The smoke clears so the neighbors don't complain so much. Drive the car for 10-15 minutes normal driving to blow out the carbon. A little hard acceleration in the last 2-3 minutes makes the rest of the carbon come out.

    D) Change the oil and filter. It is advisable to flush a quart of clean oil through the crank case while the drain plug is removed and flush out the engine/bottom of the oil pan.

You can change the fuel filter, but it isn't necessary.

Fill up the gas tank. Immediately, you will notice a great improvement in performance.

I do this about every 15,000 to 20,000 miles.

Sea Foam cleans deposits from the fuel tank, pump, injectors, intake, oil passages system, and the last step cleans the pistons and top piston ring and valves, plugs, and catalytic converter. Less Carbon, means less carbon scoring, better compression and engine life.
